I need some advice about what to do about school
Discussion
You all seem to give decent advice to other people, so I figure I'll have a go.
I'm currently at a private school on a bursary, but i've never really felt like I fit in. Everyone round me, all my friends, seem to be loaded and get whatever they want, and in the first 5 yers of this school I told 6 people that I was on a bursary, and all of them except one have either had a go at me or stopped talking to me about it. The only one that didn't was my best mate.
Its not only that though, people there are stuck up little s
ts generally, and I've had friends and teachers take the piss out of me for various reasons over the years. TBH, I now hate it. And to make it worse, my two best friends have just ditched me. No explanation, nothing, they just refuse to talk to me.
I've become pretty down about it recently and I've been told that if I want to I can go to a different school. Thing is, I'll lose the few friends I have left, and this is the best school around, so if I went to a new school then I'd have to make new friends all over again and things might end up worse than before. I just don't know what to do, so if any of you can offer advice I'd be very grateful. Thanks.

Throw yourself into studies get fantastic grades and when you are earning 50k and driving a ferrari you can laugh at them all.
Dont know what to suggest, I had a pretty crap time at school too, you get through it, Im now 31 and still dont have a best mate, at least no-one lets me down

I suppose that's one of the problems of bursaries..they help you with the fees but with private schools there's more to it than that.A "keeping up with the Jones'"sort of thing? You need to be where you will be happy 'cos otherwise you will not get any benefit from school. If you do decide to move then I'm fairly certain you will make other friends (I know you've probably heard it before). If it were my son (who I think is around your age (just done GCSEs?)Id advise him the same, although there's only you can make the decision really.
Better the devil you know?
Difficult to comment with only that small amount of info/background.
I went through good and bad times at school, had fairly similar things happen, it seems stupid looking back on it now, but school is a pressure cooker environment for unstable teenage minds. I lost friends over dumb things and ended up hating some, I stuck it out (I can put up with a lot of crap) and by the end most had matured enough that we had become good friends again.
How far are you into school though, I get the impression that your in your final year or two, in which case I would probably stick it out to the end, unless it is seriously affecting your studies. If you still have a few years of school left then I'd consider going somewhere else. If even the teachers are making fun of you then I would wonder about that school, going to a good school may look good on your resume but if your marks are crap then that will cancel that out.
Other option is to dump school for now and get an apprenticeship or something or get a job and switch to part time schooling. Depending on what career path your after you could steal a jump on everyone else in the rat race. I really don't know how the education system works over here though.
The important thing is to make the decision after lots of thought with a clear head, even then it will be pot luck but that's life, only gets worse from here

This is how life is going to be for you, so you need to work out now if you can stick it, or if you want to just give up and quit.
I wouldnt say its the end of the world if you do quit, but it will certainly go a long way towards maping your future for you.
We all have to work thru stress and hard times, it helps define and strenghten us, but some just cant cope with this was of doing things.
Try and use this as a way to better yourself, if you can, you will be Much stronger for it at the end.
Alas the world is not a fair place, those with money and power tend to keep it, and dont want those without it to have it.
If you havent got money, then you are at a disadvantage, but it doesnt meant you cant get it, just that you have to work that much harder TO get it. But once you do, you know you've earnt it, and you WILL be a better, stronger person that those who have just been given it.

You are doing your A-levels aren't you?
Just concentrate on your work, pass your A-Levels, and move on to Uni where you can meet a whole lot of new friends.
I have to agree here. With 1.5 years to go it's not worth the upheaval of changing school, new friends, getting used to the system and still trying to finish your exams. 1.5 years is nothing really. Get your good results and get to Uni where you can put it behind you and have your fun.
P.S. I saw your other thread, if you go to Uni away from home then you don't have to tell them you have got a bigger bike. There's a target for you

I also went to a fee-paying school (paid for by parents). Even just a few years later I didn't talk to anyone from school and was at Uni picking my own bunch of people to hang out with who I'm still in contact with (9 years later).
You're in an enviable position with the bursary, so use it wisely. Put your head down and get some great A levels and ensure you get a good Uni place. The short term sacrifice (1.5 years in total, 8 months at school?) will stand you in a much better position for the rest of your life.
As you say, if you move now there's no guarentee you'll like your new school or will be as sucessful acedemically.
What is guarenteed is that at Uni there'll be a vast pool of people, many similar to yourself. You'll be able to pick your own friends and have a ball

If you were my son i would say ..
Life is a long haul, and what happens now is a big decider on your future and sometimes when all around you *seems* to be falling down,it in fact may not be....patience is an important part of life and although you feel down because of the way things are panning out its sometimes best to wait and observe how things go from here.
If people are downing you because of what you are then they are not true freinds anyway so its no loss but you may have missread the situation though after all you are at a sensitive time, its a difficult time for all at your age.

m1spw - you will still meet stuck up public school tw@ts when you finish school. They will be at Uni, after that, if you work in the "city", join a big4 accountancy firm or consultancy these people will still be there. Fortunately they are in a minority, so stick it out mate. You have a good opportunity to blitz the A-levels & go from there. If you have a long term goal of Uni & poss a grad scheme, your A-levels will (wrongly IMO) dictate what you can or cant apply for.
For me, and many of my friends, the teenage years are the worst of your life! Hormones all over the place, there's peer pressure, g/f and b/f issues, pressure to succeed in school, etc.. etc..
If it make you feel any better - life definitely improves as you grow a little older. At your age, you're probably at about the most depressing age, as far as I can recall.
If you were my kid, and I'm old enough to be your Dad, I advise that you find someone to talk to - face to face. The internet's okay, but it's not really a substitute for confiding in someone personally.
Anyway, you have my thoughts and sympathy buddy!

Is this an opportunity for Vixpy's first ever sensible post??
What? You expect sympathy from the school bully himself.
M1spw - lots of sensible advice already given, so i won`t bother............
Go and rent the video "Scum" then find a sock and some billiard balls!
Then practise saying "Av it" in the mirror.
