regarding a thread posted on Sunday about making friends in a new town...
someone suggested speed-dating. Not that i want to try it myself (honestly) & i would rather make friends through hobbies and going to the pub etc.
so what's the opinion on these venues? has anyone met their future spouse, a good friend, or even a someone they still keep in touch with now and then.
almost every girl i've chat to (maybe no guys will admit to going on one?) has given it the thumbs down on the lines of "it was a good laugh but the blokes swing from trees (rather than growing on them)" the cynical me, thinks it's a bit of a money-spinner for events organisers...
Female chum of mine reckoned the main problem was that most of the blokes had topped up on 'dutch courage' before they went along and so were half pissed and smelt of beer.....not the ideal first impression.
In theory good, in practice not so sure. Why not trying an internet dating site or a dogging forum instead?

Well my mate was an aussie, nice lass, having no luck in London with blokes, pretty down to earth in an 'aussie way' so she'd almost certainly "take one up the shitter".
....not that I ever went there.

Ive met loads from the internet and most are not what they say although i met a realy nice girl in Manchester but distance was a killer.
I have made loads of mates(girlfreinds) on the net that live a long way away but i think they are also grateful that they can have a humurous/serious chat without it verging on sex all the time.
Believe it or not there are some females out there that just want you to fulfill their fetish's,but ime only interested in a equal feeling partner/soulmate that must like cars

I can't help thinking you should concentrate your efforts on 'live' targets Cliff rather than internet girls.

It's a royal pain in the arse (no reference to your latter question) I go out with 6 or 7 impeccably presented girls and random girls won't even come near me - they either think I'm the gay friend that they're all comfortable with, or I'm one of their boyfriends. I'm neither! I frequently get called a git in the pub though by all the blokes
Anyway, importantly getting back to the importantly important stuff; some of them do, some of them don't (yes, that question has come up!)

i'd imagine trying rather than guessing would be even more fun
Went a couple of weeks ago to an event in Leic Square and thoroughly enjoyed it. Me and a mate were almost doing a double act as he was in front of me and was warning the girls about me whilst I asked them what they thought of him.
Out of the 25 I met I got 10 dates and 3 friendships - most of the girls were a decent standard and I cannot honestly remember when I have met so many 'potentials' in one place.
