Can anyone tell me the differences between the UK and US iPods? I want a 30Gb Video iPod, and I can find then for £199 new in the UK, but my old man’s out in the US at present and could bring me one back. I presume there’s no difference in the iPods themselves, but what’s the difference in what’s in the box? Is the only difference that one bought in the US will come with a US power adapter? Hence, is all I need a UK power adapter and I’ve got the same thing for less money?

Nope no difference at all. I got my 60Gb Photo in the states and just use a shaver adapter if I want to charge off the mains. Most of the time I just charge off the USB. They were £430 over here and cost me £200 out there.

just need a power adaptor. I understand that the EU pods have limited volume, so yours would be louder...

Is there anything we're not shafted on price in the UK?

That's what my bro does with the one I bought him in the US, it's a standard figure of eight plug behind the 2 pins.

It won't have the volume regulation to stop you from damaging your hearing that the EU make Apple put on their European models.

Do the american ones use DRM (digital Rights Management)? I have an IRiver and the yank version must have DRM to access downloaded paid for music. Probably all IPODs do due to Itunes software. Just a guess. Not really a problem if you don't intend to mod the unit.

Very interesting.

Sorry about the off topic post but presumably I can do this easily with my Iriver cable imported from the US?

I'll need to see if I have a spare hi-fi cable or pick one up from maplin.

I bought my Ipod in the States and it's been fine so far, interested to hear about any thoughts on the 4Gb Nano as I leave my normal Ipod in the car all the time now so could use another?

I believe that cameras are more often the latest version here, and at prices that are difficult to beat, even in the back streets of Hong Kong.

Everything else, we are shafted on!
