PARIS, Nov 13 (Reuters) - The European Union has offered France 50 million euros ($58.5 million) to help it tackle problems in suburbs that have seen a wave of unrest, EU Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso said on Sunday.
He told Europe 1 radio he had offered to make the funds available in a letter to Prime Minister Dominique de Villepin in a letter on Friday.
"If the French authorities want to do this with us, it is possible to do it with a rescheduling of credits," he said.
France has faced 17 consecutive nights of violence in the suburbs of major towns and cities by youths protesting at harsh police treatment, unemployment and lack of opportunities.

What they have is a problem with law enforcement. Sending money won't help that in the short term. I hate that certain groups think that sending money solves everything. Why couldn't France use its own police force and military to get it under control? That's what they do in every other country.
