Ok, who has one? How have you found the hordware/software in use? Do you use it as much/less than you thought when you purchased? Where is the best place to buy one and the various accessories?

Ipod Mini : 1st Gen : 4Gb

Purchased, rapidly followed by new headphones, car dock, Itrip... (oops, there goes an extra 70 quid!)

Use wise, it all depends on what I'm doing, if I've got work to do in the office that means i just need to crack on, I'll stick my ears in and just listen to it all day, great in the car with the Itrip as well..

Cracking peice of kit..

Just bought a 2Gb Nano for the good Mrs S, she loves it and uses it whenever she can...

Had a 15GB, now got a 60GB. I use it all the time (walking to the train station in the morning, at work, then all the way home again). It's really easy to use, iTunes is the best music player bar none.

Buying the future MrsJimothy a Nano for xmas as well.

I use my 30Gb iphoto thingy quite a lot. We had the Alpine head unit and i-pod adapter put in the Tamora, so I use it whenever I take it to work. Just whack it on random, and off we go. Only drawback is classical & quiet stuff gets skipped over - obviously in a TVR - can't bloody hear it. When I'm in the house, if I'm cooking the dinner, and it coincides with Emmerdale/Corrie/'stenders, I pop the old phones on so I don't have to listen to the soap rubbish

Itunes is very good - I must sort out some proper playlists though!!!

Would that be for the World of Warcraft special edition iPod?

I've just got a 4gig Nano..

Itunes is quite easy to use - but you need to have Quicktime installed as well, which annoys me as it hijacks all media playing regardless of the settings..

Great features are:
you can upload/download/copy cd all to itunes whenever you want (no need to have ipod connected) and then just hook up the Ipod and it updates.
Uploading to ipod VERY quick (compared with minidisc)
You can specify your own playlists - very handy.
Very easy to use on the move
weighs nothing

Not so good:
No remote on headphones, and cant get them for the nano...
sound quality is great, although i worry about volume, as airplane engines might mean having to have it v. loud to hear..

I was impressed anyway... i uploaded 6 or 7 albums and a handful of MP3's and have only used 10% of the memory...

I've had a 4th Gen 20Gb for a year now and i bought a 4 Gig Nano for Joanne. No probs so far, even when changing PCs. iTunes is a piece of piss to use and foolproof. Battery lives are good enough.

I have just bought a 30gb 5th Generation IPod Video. Really pleased with the unit, holds over 7.5k songs. But you can also store and slideshow photos, great for the "Dad moment" in the ofice. Also, you can convert DVD's and store and play them. Great on the train, just watched Spiderman 2 in the traffic jam on the M25 this mornin (not recommended whilst driving :-) )

I've had my 40Gb iPod for about 18 months - use it for at least 2 hours every day and couldn't imagine commuting without it.

iTunes and the 'Pod itself both very easy to use.

My 6 month old 60GB one appears to have packed up. Ran out of batteries over the weekend, plugged it in to charge overnight, nothing this morning - seems totally dead. Bloody thing.

It was gift from cousin in NY - so I suppose no way of getting it fixed here under warranty...

Fantastic bit of kit, I have the 4th Gen w/click wheel. Only problem I've found is headphones - I've gone through 3 pairs so far (bass f**ked two pairs, and on my current pair the plastic covering has ripped exposing the wires).

However, once you've listened to something on an ipod you'll hate anything else - at the start of Vertigo by U2 Bono says something and I've only ever heard it on my ipod - its not clear on any other sound system (surround sound system, car speakers, hifi...).

Which one do you want?

Not sure which one to go for. I really fancy the idea of having my whole music collection with me wherever I go and I guess the iTrip will be a definate addition for in-car listening.

Some of the guys at work have Nanos, but to be honest it's a bit too small (and possibly fragile looking) for me. The Mini I understand is being discontinued (?), although there may still be some stocks around. I've read a bit about the 4G with 'click wheel' and it sounds good.

I use a 4gb with clickwheel, great bit of kit! Bought an Alpine system with a docking station for the Chimaera, leave it in there permanently now.

So need another!
