Yorkshire to Tignes - Where to stop over?
Discussion
Booked a favourite hotel in Tignes (Villages Montata) for a week's skiing over New Year and decided to drive down, so just wondered if the PH massive could recommend a suitable quality hotel or chateau which is open over the festive period (not where there's a welcome with a real fire!) en route.
Autoroute suggests following route Calais, Reims, Chalons en Champagne, Troyes, Dijon, Geneva, Annemasse so a stop between Calais.
I was hoping for somewhere in Champagne or Burgundy.
Thanking you kindly in advance.

I stayed in this place when we took the bikes to the Alps.

It's run by an old Scottish couple who have been out in France for years. Lovely place, 10 mins from Autoroute, great restaurant nearby and importantly, for me, very easy to find (I hate spending more time looking for a place than I spent trying to get there).
I don't know if they are open over the winter but they were always quick to reply to emails.

Not sure on places to stay, as we did the journey in one go from the midlands. Also, not sure on the route you suggest - seems a little odd to go out towards Geneva? I'd suggest going from Dijon, around Lyon, to Albertville and then up the valley to Tignes - its still autoroutes all the way to Albertville just a little more direct...

Thanks Andy - looks great, but I've E-mailed the owners & they're not open.

Bad luck cause it is a nice little place they have.
I'll have a dig through my emails and see if I have any other places that way.
If you have a couple of drivers though it could be done non stop. We did Glasgow to Pisa in one go a couple of years back.
Edited to say: The other places I've stayed are either closer to Calais or in the Alps. Can't find anywhere in same region.
