Suprised nobody's threaded this yet.

Did anyone see the documentry? I was forced to watch this last night by the other half.

10 years since they split. Actually turned out to be a revealing story of the band and gave a good insight to the feelings of the band members.

It certainly proved that too much of a good thing when young can really cock your head up.

A sound bunch of lads with some interesting individual takes on life.

Ah found a solution to being forced to endure these a while ago.

I've agreed with my girlfriend that she can watch anything boy-band related she wants to watch. But she's not allowed to complain when I leave the room and go play on the PC. Problem solved!

(She agreed to that rule after nearly going nuts after I spent the entire course of a 1 hour new kids on the block (or was it backstreet boys? I dont know, or care tbh..) insisting that one of them was a spitting image of Ali G and providing a running commentary of Ali G impressions whenever he was on teh screen)

I watched it by choice, not because I like TT, but because I thought it would be amusing and I was right!

Absolutely hilarious.

And you know what's really freaky, there's a Take That compilation album out for Xmas.

What are the chances of that?

So what was gleaned from this tale......

Gary Barlow.....is very talented as a song writer but craves the individual success that Robbie has gained......and Robbie would give anything for the life Mr Barlow has.

The other three dont seem to be too bothered....just showed money dont buy instant happiness just a choice on how you spend your time.

You know what though, now the songs are 10+ years old, some of them are actually good.

I watched it - mainly because my wife wanted to watch it and I wanted to spend time with her since I'm commuting a fair distance at the moment. However, I quite enjoyed it actually.

Thought Robbie's video apologies were interesting. Obviouly carrying a bit of guilt there but not a big enough man to come in and say his apologies in person.

Got to say though, I thought boy-band dancing was pretty naff even at the time, but now it looks positively cringeworthy.

"Back For Good" is a truly brilliant pop song, I have to admit. Just don't tell anyone I said it, 'k?

I was not a fan first time around, but time has mellowed me and I can see now that they produced some great pop.

"Want You Back For Good" is an absolutely superb song.

It was a very interesting programme - I never knew Robbie was effectively thrown out of the band and how it happened. He obviously still has issues with it, but although he lacked the confidence to go to the band re-union, the messages he recorded were very honest and moving. To apologise as he did could not have been the easiest thing to do.

Too late.

Besides, Girls Aloud are far superior

Well, if we're all coming out of the closet then I'd have to be forced to agree with you. But only that song.

Certainly easier on the eye. Although Gary's aged well dontcha think. Real-life "Ugly Duckling" story there...Didn't he use to have one eye on the piano and the other on Robbie's arse? From the trailer for the program (honestly, I didn't watch it) he seemed to have had an eye correction job....I think i've said too much....

Might have to disagree there, I have always had a bit of a soft spot for "A Million Love Songs" and "Babe"

Although probably more due to late teenage fumblings than anything else

No, it's just modern pop is far worse in comparison.
They were cruddy manufactured arse then and still are. And we should probably blame them for the spate of clones that followed.

I didn't think his apologies were that sincere. I got the impression the band didn't buy it either...especially Gary Barlow.

All IMHO, of course.

The moral of the story is whatever you do, be the one that writes the songs.

If it gets you the gaff, the tan, the missus and the way of life Gary has, it's got to be the winner!

I did the fact though that Gary admitted that the fact Robbie had a hand in writing Angels was always a source of jealousy to him.

For gawds sake, kiss and make up!

But they wrote their own songs entirely; something Girls Aloud, Sugarbabes, Boyzone et al have never done.
