For my 30th Birthday my wife has booked us a week in Las Vegas.
Can anyone suggest

Best clubs - not stripclub with other half!! i ve heard they are expensive so i want to go to some decent ones!

Best bars

Best places to eat

Any good shows - not naked / strip shows ones with other half!

car hire - is it cheaper to hire from there or book in advance from here ( i m goin to san diego for a couple of days to see relies

Must do in Vegas ! -

Grand canyon is a must do.
Best bar/club is the Voodoo Lounge on top of the Rio, very good food, good tunes. good drinks (including the Witch Doctor, a cocktail so large one is enough to get yu drunk, with some left over!)
Tangerine is good too.

If you like Star Trek, then the experience in the Hilton is great. Seigfried and Roy's garden is good to, Dolphins, White tigers etc.

And you must, I repeat MUST see the Blue Man Group! Best show ever!

A Helecopter trip into the canyon was great.

We stayed in the Mandalay Bay which has some good Bars/Shows.The strip is very long but a monorail runs along most of it.

I found a place just off the strip where you can fire machine guns, AK47 M16 etc.
I'm not usually into that sort of stuff but my wife and I went there for a laugh.

The jetlag and the long flight is the only bad part. Vegas is great.

All I can say is Indoor skydiving! It's near the Convention centre, just off the strip!

It was just fantastic.

If you fancy a long drive along some very straight roads that reach the Horizon, drive to Area 51, or extra-terrestrial highway.

I have been quite a few times, with work mainly. Here are some suggestions

Go on the ride on top of the Stratosphere the one that shoots you up into the air, s*it scary.

The free shows outside the Bellagio and Treasure Island cainos are worth a look as is the shopping area in the Venitian with indoor canals and gondolas etc.

You won't need a car when you are in town but as a general rule it is almost always cheaper to buy car hire from the UK rather than when you are in the US.

Even the cheap (£25) a night hotels on the strip like Excalibur or Circus Circus will provide nice modern rooms although lack some of the polish of the newer hotels.

Hoover damn and grand canyon are musts although don't try to drive to the GC it is much further than it looks on a map (not that I have been so foolish oh no). Drive to San Diego should be possible via Joshua Tree national park which is also worth a look, again much further then it looks (spotting a pattern here) and is probably a bit much to do on the same day as your flight back to the UK (thank it was delayed)

Two new rides have opened at the top of the Stratosphere.

I went on the one that basically spins you round while you're hanging over the edge, so when you look down you see nothing but the road below! No wonder it's called Insanity.

I'm going to be there the first week of Jan, which is when the Consumer Electronics Show is. As it happens, the Adult Video Network awards show is that week as well, by coincedence, in the same convention center...

I'm going with 6 or so mates, so, feel free to add in strip club/other non-wife/gf friendly event references .

Hope I'm not hi-jacking too badly here.. .

I was but then I didn't have a choice. Stopped in Vegas for a few days on my way back to UK at the end of a RTW trip with my other half, and we couldn't afford the helicopter journey to GC. As it is a MUST SEE sight we hired a Mustang Convertible (£25) and off we went. 5 hour drive each way, but believe it or not it was worth it when we got there. Didn't matter that we got back to Vegas late at night as it's a 24hr city.

We could see the glow of the Vegas lights on the horizon driving back....and we were still over an hour away in Arizona!

Yep CES is why I normally go, should be arranging it now instead of browsing PH. Have been lucky enough to be in the same place as the Playboy channel party....which was nice

Vegas weird place.

Grand Canyon, yup a must do.

Hoover Dam likewise, also standing on the edge of the viewing balcony and looking down. Mate turns to me and says
Him "are you thinking what I'm thinking?"
Me "You mean that strange feeling it wouldn't hurt too much if we jumped, even though the sensible side of your brain says it will be terminal"
Him " Exactly"
Deffo a weird feeling.

Go with the flow! We crashed some music awards (Billboard?) a while back, how still don't know but anyway sat with some very famous people. How the devil that heppened we still don't know, but it was a hoot of a night.

One for the Trekkies. If you're into Aliens, UFOs, Roswell and Area 51 take a long drive out into Nevada desert along the Extra Terrestial Highway. Different! Just make sure someone knows where you've gone, middle of nowhere, no phone signals, and the security for the military bases shoot to kill, so do NOT drive past the markers!!!!!! Seriously! The folks at the Little Alien Inn at Rachel will give you a good welcome though. A different view of America.
