Any standard Life policy holders on here?

Just got some bumpf from them. I haven’t read it in detail yet but it looks like they have finally selected an date to demutualise and are asking me to vote.

What to you lot think and how will you be voting?

I have to say all the scare stories that were put around in the early 90’s when the building societies demutualised seem to have become just that.

I`ve just been reading an old letter about one of my pensions from December 2000.

One paragraph on the letter reads:

Mutual: "We are Europe`s largest mutual life assurance company and intend to retain our mutual status. We strongly believe that this is in the best interests of all our policy holders"

I am a standard life policyholder, if they had demutualised when the Aussie carpetbagger wanted us to, we would have got a large windfall, we'll be lucky to get 500 pounds now.
I think we've been misled, especially on the updates they used to send us, claiming they were the top performing Co. My endowment with them is doing worse than my Scottish Am policy, yet their update always had Scot Am at 9 or 10, with Standard life at 1. The directors always see themselves alright though.

My mortgage is with SL Bank; don't suppose I'll get anything...
