Who wants to try and work out how much energy, oil, gas, trees and waste it takes to produce 225,000 papers a day, 7 days a week, 364 days a year?
Independent you say? About (224,999 x 7 x 364 x energy x oil x gas x trees x waste) more than they needed to bother with

I seem to recall a pir-chart a little while ago showing global CO2 emissions by source and only 7% of the man-made portion was from vehicles. The bulk was from domestic cattle and powerstations, industry much higher than cars too.

Don't remember the source though so it may hae been tosh. Certainly no less tosh then the journo's claims.

Not to forget that IIRC a massive proportion of the current CO2 emmisions is coal fires (ie coal seams and mines) on fire across asia (with a few scattered elsewhere, some in the US for example they've been trying to exstinguish for decades...)
