Surround Sound
Discussion
Ive never actually owned a surround sound setup before, and I finally bought an amp and 6 speakers this weekend, 500 watts RMS all round!
Its brilliant, I only wish I'd bought it sooner
They have been out what... 20 years now (or more)?
I suppose all DVD's come in 5.1 these days? Any recommendations for flicks which absolutely must be watched in surround sound?

Depends if you're gonna watch the original 70's one or the remake of 2001. 2001 is less cringy (ahh my misspent Uni days of last year - 20 people all watching the same *films* with popcorn and pizza. Sounds bizarre but it was team bonding at its very best :P)

Pod scene in Star Wars Episode I is pretty good.
Welcome to 2005, Bob. Its like unearthing a whole new world, isn't it?
Another question for everyone - where is your sub? I debated putting it behind the couch or even under the couch so you could feel it more, but it probably sounds best near the screen.
Whatever you audition make sure you go through the DVD menu and select Dolby digital 5.1, or even better DTS 5.1 if the DVD allows it. DTS (Digital Theatre Sound) is a lot better than Dolby Digital 5.1.
Enjoy ! , you'll never look back now!
Ps: Master and commander is good when ships start blasting each other
