Are you not getting the text that's being "typed" in the box?

Ooh hang on you haven't got a 3rd Party blocking program (maybe Google task bar?) - that blocks funky stuff in IE6?

my internet options says that it is running java and i have just uninstalled my msn toolbar and tried again and it still isnt doing anything. strange.
