Bizarre.

Presumably its faked up from digital pictures of a real house?

this was posted a few days ago. i think general consensus was that it was faked using photoshop.

If it is fake....(because I've no idea), it's a bloody good one and must of taken ages! Otherwise, a quality set of lights!

Either way, it's a cool video!

Fantastic! Photoshopped? Someone very clever spend a lot of time then getting the lighting levels on the house right frame by frame.

Could also be done by using a music controlled lighting set, the music could easily be played indoors so no one outside hears it. Video the lights then over dub the music back on.

PS I have never done this. Not with Christmas lights anyway

I reckon it would be quicker to program a PLC to do it than it would be to Photoshop it

There is a light on the left that keeps fairly regular time. There are loons in the US who live for this, and have some really mad light displays. Wouldn't surprise me inj the least if it was real.

What I think happened was someone took, using the same camera, stills of the different frames they wanted to use, then animated it to the music later a la stop motion.

It's not photoshopped it's as it happened. One way to tell is to look at the single flashing white light (not part of the display) to the left of the 1st floor of the house, it might be a burgular alarm light or something else behind the house in the distance but it's rate doesn't change. It continues to flash at the same speed thoughout the whole video, if it was cut and artificially put together it wouldn't flash at the same times as different pics were used to stitch the display together.

I agree, highly unlikely to be 'shopped. Look at the lighting and shadows on the house and garage; to fake that so convincingly, and on so many separate frames, would have taken weeks if not months of someone's time - someone who was very talented and could probably be earning a lot of money for that time doing something more commercial with those skills.

Turns out it's quite real.

This display was the work of Carson Williams of Mason, Ohio, who spent about three hours sequencing the 88 Light-O-Rama channels that control the 16,000 Christmas lights in his 2004 holiday lighting spectacular. The musical accompaniment is broadcast over a low-power radio station so that it is only audible to visitors tuned in to the correct frquency and doesn't disturb the neighbors.

He did another one aswell
