How to send parcels weighing more than 2KG overseas cheaply?

I often have to send parcels over 2KG overseas to the States/Australia etc - however the Royal Mail charges a fortune once you get over the 2KG limit which is crazy!

Is there anything I can use to send parcels weighing from 2 to 5KG cheaply? without resorting to couriers like DHL etc which is more expensive than the Royal Mail anyway.

Doesn't need to be too fast a service - a week or two would be fine...

I think we use these guys at work for those sorts of destinations, we send a LOT of mail though.

Don't have an answer but in respect of the above post, I used anglopacific when I moved back from Oz. Highly recommended.
