Then forget SOAD, and look no further than Deftones.

Seriously, I cannot recommend B Sides and Rarities strongly enough. The album is absolutely superb.

And if you like that and aren't already into Deftones, check out Around The Fur.

Sweet.

Well if you wanna get all anal about putting great (and versatile, as B Sides... goes to show) bands in pigeonholes, then yes, I suppose they are a "Nu-Metal" band.

But I really can't stand to be that pedantic!

This week, I have been mostly listening to this album : www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000BGH16Y/qid=1132865419/sr=8-1/ref=pd_ka_1/202-4830062-5144615

Its a collaboration between 46 different artists representing the Roadrunner record label. Its a brilliant album!

As for deftones, it depends what mood I'm in. Sometimes I can get really into them, other times I just think this is boring as hell! lol

Good old Rob Flyn is on that compliation isn't he?

I love Machine Head.

Joey Jordison is playing drums on a few tracks too, if I recall. That guy's a monster drummer, despite his questionable band.

Have been meaning to check it out for ages.

Only thing is I know it has that prat from Trivium on it, and I can't stand him or his extremely punchable face.

lol, he has does have a very punchable face! He only sings on one of the songs (the weakest song on the album, but tbh its not all his fault), but his guitar playing on some of the other tracks is excellent. He knows how to write a song that for sure.

And yep, Robert Flynn is on it as well as Joey Jordison.

Top choice son.

I have all of their albums and I've seen them live twice - they ROCK!

Engine No. 9 - what an absolute monster track

Deftones are pretty decent, I've got Adrenaline (track 1 "Bored" is ace!) and White Pony but I do have to be in the mood, just like with most music.
Check out Bruce Dickinson's Rock Show on BBC 6 music, last Saturday he featured a band from Northern Ireland called the Answer, cracking! Sounded proper old school rock with decent vocals and everything. You can listen to the show over the internet, up to seven days after it was first broadcast- if you hurry, you'll still be able to catch last week's.

Trivium are a bit overrated, but still OK. If you like that sort of thing (and I do) then try Bullet For My Vallentine, they're from Wales and knock Trivium into a cocked hat.

I'm pretty sure my mate Andy mixed/engineered Bullet FMV's album. I'll have to check them out...

Anyone like Glassjaw? Or Rival Schools (or Quicksand)?
