Whilst browsing through P.H on saturday i thought i'd have a look through the P.H shop, decided i'd order a window sticker and a badge (wow, i'm a big spender) it did say 10-14 days (i think) for delivery, so i thought if i'm lucky i MAY recieve them in time for the P.H meet on the 4th Dec.
I got home from work today to find several letters and takeaway menus on the floor of our porch and one letter was addressed to me only, (not mrs hood) so i opened it only to find my sticker and badge delivered to my door after two days (and one of them a sunday) so i would just like to say "WELL DONE" to the people in charge and (i suppose) to the postal service.

Glyn,

Many many thanks for the positive feedback - it's always nice to get.

Even BT&P does not get in the way of getting the orders out

Thanks again,

Aye, used to be pretty much the same with RS; you could order up to 8pm and get it first thing next day.
Now it's all gone to rat-shit and you're lucky if it turns up at all next day.
Maplins too: when they introduced their mail-order system in about the mid-80s it was bloody fantastic! Now they hardly stock any electronic components at all and the shop staff know nowt unless it's a reel of Cat 5. or some bling-bling subwoofers for your Saxo.
You'd think they'd recruit students who at least had a vague interest in electronics but no; I guess for them it's a tossup between serving radio-controlled cars or big Mac and fries.
Incidentally Nicki, serving in Maccy D's at Woodall Services would get it good style if I was a couple of decades younger

Glyn,

The PH fleeces are due imminently. The very moment they arrive - believe you me - we'll post the details up on PH.

I'll drop you an email as soon as they come in if that helps?

Regards,

The PH Shop.

Odd, Maplin were doing mail order before the 80s and it has always been shit. The delivery is prompt enough, but it always has the wrong parts in it. Though they do seem to have got better after one particularly egregious repeated failure to send the right stuff. I think my account now has a note on it along the lines of "This guy does notice when we send the wrong stuff and his reaction is dangerous"

Know what you mean about the shop staff. I tend to pretend I'm not ready to speak to anyone yet until the one guy with grey hair is free.

Well OK, let's say it was the mid-80s before I dealt with them, prior to that it was ads in the back of mags (Birketts, that place in Lincoln with bits of old aircraft, for example!); I'm sure they were quick though, and rarely (if ever) furgled my orders.

RS once screwed-up monumentally for us at work: we ordered a £500 PLC, they sent us a 50p LED. Easy mistake to make, I suppose...
