Jeremy Clarkson's fighter jet.....

I seem to remember from a while back that Mr Clarkson bought a fighter jet of some kind to install as, presumably, a static exhibit in his garden. I can't actually remember what it was, I think it might have been a English Electric Lightening.

The thing I do remember is that it was hoplessly impractical, he hadn't even installed small concrete pads for the wheels to sit on, and it consequently sank into the mud.

Does anyone know if he still has it, and if it has deteriorated, been done up, maybe even flying?

It was a Lightning.

It was a TV stunt - he never actually owned it.

It's serial is XM172.

More recently a consortium had planned to mount it on public display on a rondabout on the A325 between Frimley and Farnborough. This appears to have fallen through and now the plane is languishing in storage where its future is looking increasingly bleak.
