www.theslatecompany.net/Indian%20Sandstone%20main%20page.htm - this is the best I've found so far, I've got samples coming tomorrow (for the kitchen, not paving slab).

While we're on the subject Granite setts for driveway/paving (reclaimed/tumbled pref.) have googled, but would prefer recommendations.

I have used The Natural Slate Company (www.theslatecompany.net) for slate tiles for kitchen floor. Good price, a lot fewer broken than I had allowed for, so left with quite a few tiles. Can definitely recommend. Was quite amusing to hear the stories from the kitchen fitter when they were unloading the lorry...

I picked up the slate for our kitchen floor in the back of the Volvo. All I can say is I'm glad the kitchen's not any larger - poor car was almost scraping along the ground!

I had the slate dropped off at the kitchen fitter's workshop. The lorry driver apparently went in, and asked if he had the right place, and could someone help him unload. John said he would help him unload, and couldn't understand why the lorry driver was laughing - until he got outside. 2 pallets of slates - each I guess 1 ton or so. John thought I'd ordered slate 'effect' tiles, so was a little bit surprised! In the end they had to borrow the fork lift from the farmer next door to unload the lorry - then John and his boys had to load and unload the slates into their van by hand.
