Bratislava

Right it's a tough job but someone has to do it. I have to go to Bratislava for a meeting. Anybody been there? Can you recommend any good hotels? Where are the best pubs ( it'll be a stressful trip so I may need to relax in the evening )

Oh and is there a good rail link to Vienna?

I live in Vienna and there's both a train and bus from Bratislava. It costs about €10 by bus each way and a little more by train.

It's also not the nicest place in the world but there are some international chains which are probably your best bet for staying at.

Also, if you don't mind the 40-50 minute commute from Vienna, there's loads of places here plus if you fancy a drink, give me a shout and I'll take you along to a couple of the good places in town. Hooters for starters (Not a strip bar like everyone thinks!! Just an excuse to have women in tight tops)

Otherwise, try 1516 which is next to Karlplatz. Top home brewed beer and some quality bar girls plus they all speak English. (Including the Irish bar staff).

I'm going with my girlfriend (Slovak) next month. She chose the Crowne Plaza in Bratislava.

I have been there but I can't really remember much about it apart from the beer was cheap, really cheap. Trencin is a good place to go out but it's a little way from Bratislava (about 75 miles I think)

Went there on a stag do in June and stayed here:

There's a lapdancing bar on the first floor, perfect for relaxing in the evening and a short lift ride back up to your room.

Beware though, they were £30 each when we were there so make sure you have your company credit card handy.

Hmmmmm I'm getting the impression that Bratislava is a bit of a hole (fair?) compared to Vienna, my meeting is actually in Vienna (on a monday), and I thought as the company is footing the bill I might as well fly out on Sat and have a w/e city break on them. Maybe I'll just get the transfer straight to Vienna and w/e there ( beanbag I'll give you a PM once I know my schedule but a trip to hooters sounds like it could be educational )

If your meeting is in Vienna, forget Bratislava.....its a dump compared to this place....Vienna is amazing for a night out with a few beers and clubbing is good too if your up for that. Just be prepared to leave around 5am or later

Went out there in June and loved it. Vienna's nice too, but the girls are in another league in Slovakia. Fav. place was Sparx. Not a single fat posterior in sight, Zloty Bazant beer (great stuff!) for 1 euro a pint and a nice atmosphere.
