A device that can deter young chavs and misfits away: http://news.com.com/Whats+the+buzz+Teens+cant+stand+

Now, if only I could wire one of these to my car alarm

Or, imagine having a 'grenade' like device that you could throw at groups of little monsters to make them disperse on-demand... now if the police were armed with that it'd be a true non-lethal weapon

Couple of shops where I used to live got fed up with kids hanging around outside so just put up some speakers playing Classical music.

Worked like magic! they all disapeared but it was a while before they told what the secret was most of us just thought that they had plesant music not a weapon against rowdy kids.

I love the say all the spotty teens are replying telling the world they're going to sue the shop!

They should put one of these devices on every street corner and turn it on after 6pm every evening.

Love it!

But what about us non-chavs who can hear these bloody things clear as day. A few years ago Mum ought a mouse and cat deterrent that did the high pitch thing. It took a week to figure out what the noise was as no-one else could hear it.

My wife was talking about something like this for her classroom. When the class start getting a bit disruptive, press a button and they all get an annoying high pitched whistle, except adults can't hear it.

Next thing we know this guy has one outside his shop.

One day she'll think of something good first.

I still want one for my classroom.

Thinks of the sales potential. I am the only one wondering if they are looking for a UK distributor? Hell, I could sell thousands of those little boxes

the inventor was on GMTV a couple of weeks ago(apparently ). it was him and the short-haired asian woman from liberty. she kept calling it "that dog whistle". i kept calling it "a good idea"!

still, the kids could just mug the device of you - they don't need to worry about getting a proper punishment any more...!

Erm... What if you are a normal kid, who does not want to have his ears blasted. there are normal kids you know, despite what you read in the daily snail...

The point is that if you go into a shop, buy something and then go home, it's merely a minor annoyance. However, if you're intent on hanging around (ie: if you're a bloody pest) then it's annoying enough to make you move along.

What a cool device although it does say that someone in-between 20-30 might hear it thus annoying a potential customer...

I cannot stand her. She has come out with a couple of points I agree with but I find something really annoying...

So if I want to go buy something i have to put up with a minor annoyance? I supose thats the same as the minor annoyance of speed cameras to get the few who do break the law. Or the minor annoyance of speed bumps. Or the minor annoyance of the congestion charge...

They tested it in an area where they didnt want kids hanging about. Regardless if kids are "normal" or not they dont want them hanging about.

oooh.. So its just a general anti-kid thing? Christ. You'd think people didn't hang around with their mates when they were little. My mum did, my nan did, and funnilty enough they tut and shake their head when they see kids nowadays. When will people realise that 99% of kids are normal people who don't break things, or vandalise, etc. I bet this would have been clapmed upon if it was an anti-black whislte.

They have kids hanging round my local Coop most days and only one security guard on the door to keep the barbarian hordes at bay.

This is a good idea but a better solution might be tackling the root causes rather than the symptoms.

The 'barbarian hordes'? I presume you never went out with your mates? You never went to the park, the shop, etc? Kids are no different nowadays to back then. A desire to get out of the house and be with your friends. They can't win really. They get lambasted for sitting in, watching TV and playing the playstation, or they get lambasted for being out with their friends...

Funnily enough I didn't spend my youth hanging around outside the local coop in a big group looking for the opportunity to nip in for some shop lifting.

They are always having problems there with them at that shop.

There is nothing to stop young people meeting up at a friend’s house or at the park for some football. When they hang around in outside your local shops harrasing people it is because they wish to remind the rest of us of their power, knowing we can do nothing against them.
