I decided I may as well sign up for one. With DVD purchases we reckon we've spent over 5 grand there this year Id rather the insurance companies didnt know what my armpits and crotch smelt like, how much I drank/smoked etc, and Ive always wanted to be a knight, baron or wing commander (ok I lie, but I also digress)... Can you put any old name on the clubcard signup form ('Baron Von Asda') for example so long as your address is valid, which is where vouchers are automatically posted to, right?

Dont know if its been mentioned here before, but Im sure I heard Tesco now take 7% of Britains money each year Hows that for dominatrix!

Well, seeing as Tescos are pretty cheap anyway for most things, it seems a shame not to use a clubcard, I use mine for petrol, food, entertainment, even work (yes I know thats fraud ) etc. I think we might see about £10 worth of vouchers every 3 months or so...

yeah it comes to the house

Crikey... they're taking over the world.

Everywhere I look there seems to be a p*ssing tesco. Local to me, the residents of Wimbledon Village for some reason opposed a Marks and Sparks Foody place opening... but didn't mind a Tesco Express!
The mind boggles...

Make sure you don't spend the vouchers in the store though as you only get their face value.... use them for hotels etc where £1 clubcard voucher = £4 in hotel accomodation.... or magazine subscriptions etc... or breakdown cover!!

I just dont get all these 'cards' and i'm sick of being asked if I have one or folk trying to get me to sign up for one. I cant shop anywhere without being hassled in some way or form over it, and for what? to save a few crappy points that may eventually add up to just a few quid? Loyalty cards, gold cards, store cards, etc etc etc, sign up now and save 15% on what you buy right now. Our local paper was running a free Big Mac meal promotion, collect all the tokens all week and claim a free Big Mac, WTF for when I can just walk into a McDonalds and buy one? I just dont get it

Just today:

Tescos 1st thing: "No I havent got a wotsit card!"
Toysrus at lunchtime: "No I dont want a Gold card, yes I know I just spent £500, but I dont want a Gold card, I wont be in here again for a full year!"
IKEA this afternoon: "No I dont want one of your store cards (which is just a credit card anyway) I dont want 15% off the stuff in my bag right now!"

Being stopped in the streets, in my e-mail, text messages, land line phone calls, mobile phone calls, junk mail, at my front door, at the checkout...

Will you all just off!

Top rant!

Many is the time I've considered getting a t-shirt printed with "No I haven't got a fuing Nectar card" and wearing it whenever I go shopping to Sainsbury's.

Very good, but as a family we spend near on average £200 per week in food, petrol, clothing (cheap stuff for the kids to wreck) toiletries etc etc. Not forgeting points from Powergen, car insurance...etc etc.

We now have over £100 worth of vouchers from a years shopping. As mentioned above, £1 voucher = £4 hotel etc.

Enough for a cheap holiday or a weekend for the 2 of us.

How nice for you, sounds like a hell of a lot of hassle for 27p a day

I know what my problem is, and it's nothing to do with money (I aint wealthy anyway, just average) I just cant be arsed with people, and my natural inclination when accosted by a person of the promotional persuasion to be sold summat, is to be a bit arsey. I value my privacy, especially in public, thats the bit I object too. Just dont!!!

We save thousands each year. But I have an employee card.

Don't be angry at them asking they can't help it. They get "disciplined" (read abuse from someone who maybe a superior, but can't actually do anything) if they don't. If you don't ask and a mystery shopper comes around you get your name written all over the place as letting your department down and checkouts normally get screwed over more than any of the departments and are full of angry, middle aged women and the occassional hottie, so not to be messed with.

No hassle at at all, a weekly shop for a family of 4, a few beers/wines for the weekend, some treats and petrol for the cars. Not forgetting gas and electric bills etc. No need to be accosted, just pick up a form and fill it out at home. The vouchers we have mean we will have a free holiday. Can't be bad for handing a card over a counter.

I'm ashamed to say that I have a nectar card and a tesco one. ooh and my personal favourite is my boots card. Seeing as I'm a magpie-esque female who loves anything shiney/makeup in shiney packaging etc I seem to collect many many points (and Boots does good points adding bonus' - bring on more triple points days!!!) I appear to be half way to the yacht in bonus points now

I agree entirely!

But tesco is the one place we visit almost daily. Someone elses club card paid for my first years RAC cover. When they ask us "do you need help with packing" I make eye contact, look everso pondersome, and reply "Honesly? Somehow I think we'll manage" or similar The smart tillmonkeys learn, and dont ask again
