Without really realising it, I've still got over two weeks holidays left, put in a request, got it ok'd, booked a flight to Thailand £500 with Emirates. I'm chuffed to bits, I left it late last year and had to cough up £650 to fly with Turkish Airlines with thier vinyl seats and crap booze. Well excited now, only draw back is a 9 hour wait at Dubai on the way but hopefully I can escape the airport and have a perv at some nice cars !

I can think of much worse places for a 9 hour stopover. Nice one!

Lao Kao? (Spelt phonetically) or are you talking about yabba?

I've seen opium coffee on the menu and buffalo s**t mushroom shakes. I haven't heard of amphetamine whisky. Am I missing out?

I went last year and had a whole heap of fun, I've not got as much time this year so my loose plans are get to Krabi, then Railey Beach ,then Ao Nang, then Phi Phi Island for a little bit, and then Ko Lanta. Should be fun methinks, anyone been to Dubai airport ? should be good for spotting some exotica.

I very much doubt it is in anyway legal over here, come to think of it, is it legal in Thailand anyway?

Unlikely, what with it having a class-b illicit substance as an ingredient

Emirates are a top airline - one trick is to join their reward scheme. This entitles you to reserve your seats months in advance.

They fly 777s from Heathrow to Dubai. Get seats 46 A/B or 46 J/K. Loads and loads of room (inc lots more legroom). They are the first sets of 2 seats as the plane narrows at the back (the girls on the helpdesk know this).

Indeed. Rough rule of thumb is to find out how knowledgable they are on the technical specs of electric shavers. That's always a dead giveaway.

To cut a long story...
Mother-in-law phones up emirates to ask if she could order a bottle of champers for our honeymoon flight. Gets told it will accompany a cake and will cost £250. She says bo!!ox, but they must have made a note.
We check in. Ask for a window seat and get told that we aren't sitting together. I get ready to offload both barrells only to be told that we've been upgraded to business.
Go to board the plane. Get told that business is full and check-in guys were wrong....Prompty get upgraded to first, on a brand new 777, seats 1a & 1b. Get called Mr.Matthews the whole way, and didn't pay for a single bottle of champers..Even gave us a cake with our names on it and all gathered around to wish us the best........
We're divirced now, but was a nice gesture!
I love Emirates!
