Last night I found the fridge and larder pretty bare. The missus was out, I didn't fancy a take-away, so I decided to raid the freezer and see what I could rustle up.

I found some salad that was ok, and some "Walls Balls" in the freezer. On the front of the packet they looked rather nice - pork in a crispy coating. So I thought I'd give them a go.

They were utterly revolting - and not in merely a "not very nice" kind of way. The succulent well defined pink pork of the pack cover was revealed to be, once I had cut into a cooked one, a kind of grey solidified sludge that tasted simply evil.

I nearly gagged on the second one - then the rest into the bin.

So, the bag cost about £1.50 for 15 of these balls. I ate one. Not very good value. And a totally misleading picture on the front.

Anyone else tried them? Or discovered any other gut wrenchingly unpleasant food stuffs? What is the worst you have had?

Tapioca pudding.

Utterly chuckworthy. And in fact - I did. Its a family legend how my (Scottish) mother would say, "If you're sick after I'll know I shouldn't have made you eat it."

And I did. Right into the bowl. At Sunday Dinner with the whole (extended) family sat around me.

"Mum. I really hate the texture of this. It makes me queasy.... "

Sounds like a variation on turkey twizzlers for grown ups. There is so much cack out there that really should be banned. Iceland have a lot to answer for, 99 burgers for 99p, it just has to be total Ratner.

Mechanically processed meat....... I used to work in a food factory when I was at uni, so here's what they do....

sweep up the cartilage, sinews, fatty bits, organs, skin etc, blast the remaining flesh off the larger pieces of bone with high pressure hoses......boil it all down to a paste... add a bleaching agent to make it the appropriate colour..... then to make the revolting, stinking mess palatabe ( and this food is sub petfood standard ) they add a load of sugar, a load of salt and half a dozen preserving agents.

They stick some bread crmubs on it, then you feed it to yourself and your kids. Whilst on all liklihood dishing out some petfood of a higher quality to your cat/dog.

What a world we live in.

Caramalised Ants. Briazilian friend brought a packet back after a trip home one Chrimbo. Foul taste and revolting concept.

I've always thought this, that many people's diet is inferior to that of their pets.

I did not enjoy my 20-day 1000 year old egg in HK. It was, really, and I do mean really, disgusting.
