Right, I've got 6 months of uni left, and people are starting to ask what I'm going to do with my life, problem is I don't have a clue what I want to do.
I did 4 years of dentistry, before leaving in April and have now transferred to a year long medical ethics course. In an ideal world I'd do a masters or a PhD but can't afford to do that. I've no idea what my predicted grade is because I've only done one piece of work so far and that one didn't turn out too good.
I'm not going to be going back to dentistry either.
Any bright ideas?
Thanks!

Yeah, but you need long legs and a short skirt to get anywhere...

4 years down the pan, pity.

Sounds like you need to work out what you're good at and what you like. Also, what you're bad at and what you don't like. Ultimately if you're going to do anything well and/or build a career, you'll have to practice staying power.

Oh yeah... forgot to say: my sister-in-law is a dentist. She earns more than my bro, who has more letters after his name

Why dont you carry as a student so that us tax payers can perpetuate your reluctance to contribute to Society?

Well if the bloody suppliers would get their finger out and ship it, I could crack on. Last Monday they were supposed to call and tell me when they'd have fresh stock: so far, silence
I may ask for my £50 back and go elsewhere - I noticed they were quick enough to charge my card for something they didn't have, b@stards...

Join the Police, it's a hoot, plus you can give advice to someone when they have had their teeth punched out.

Light bulb changing specialist? (Forever putting away the inevitable question).

Thermodynamicist?

Zeroth: "You must play the game."
First: "You can't win."
Second: "You can't break even."
Third: "You can't quit the game."

So you will be stuck in one career forever weather you like it or not.

What a stupid comment. What does that contribute? Nothing! Lexie does want a job. That is the whole point of the post. Not another invitation to bash students.

Compile a list of your skills and personal qualities and take these along to a careers advisor. I was always very cynical about careers services and their tests. In retrospect, seven years down the line after doing one of their tests, I found that they were not that ridiculous after all and the top suggestion was actually one that I probably would have found quite fulfilling. It's worth a go as it might make some suggestions that may never otherwise enter your head. I met a career advisor who is based in America and she came up with some superb suggestions for a friend of mine, so they are not all bad. I'll have a think and we can talk about this further when I see you over Christmas.
