My friend, Nina, has spilt milk in her car and it stinks!! How can she get rid? It's not on removable mats, its on the floor of the car...

I did a search 'cos I thought there was a thread on this, but obviously not.

Please PH, help her out!!

Something Anti-Bacterial - Disinfectant that sort of thing - clean everything and get underneath where the milk has been spilt. Happened in the boot of my 214 a few years ago - thought I'd got it all but some had got into the wheel well. Cleaned it all out twice with disinfectant - aired the car and though for a while after the car stunk of pine, after that had faded there were no more problems.

Nuke it from Orbit

Ripley: "I say we take off and nuke the site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure. "

I let it go the first time, but you keep misquoting it

Sprinkle some instant coffee and hot water in the car - this will turn the nasty milk smell into a lovely coffee aroma.

Sell the car. Its the only way of getting rid of the smell.... just make sure you use plenty of glade and take it for a run with the windows down and the heaters off!

Damn, I'm gonna be the sensible one. Sorry

Wash it liberally with a solution of warm fairy liquid and mild disinfectant and then dry it thoroughly. Once it's dry, give it a spray with anti-bacterial febreze. That should nuke it. it may take a while to go as some milk will probably be stuck to the floor pan. Might be worth lifting the carpets if it's a relatively easy job, the footwells are usually fairly simple to expose.

Do the Shake 'n Vac, and put the freshness back
Do the Shake 'n Vac and put the freshness back
When your carpet smells fresh, your room (car) does too
Every time you vacuum, remember what to do
Do the Shake 'n Vac and put the freshness back.

I was indeed. In my rather snappy 70s skirt and blouse...

Probably a very bizarre suggestion...

but I think I heard somewhere that leaving half an onion in the car overnight will absorb the smell can't quite remember where I heard it though...
