Had some Duchy mince pies over the weekend (Prince Charles organic food range), and they were the best mince pies I've ever bought! They were full to the top (no air that represents the profit margin) and tasted superb!

Anyone else tried this range?

Do I detect a small Terry Pratchett quote there?

MrsV6 bought a box the other week and they didn't last very long...

Currently about 3 boxes of them in the cupboard (last time I looked). They'll not see Christmas Day!

Also a D.O. Christmas pud tucked away for the 25th - I'm hoping its as good.

Depends whether you are thinking of a mince pie (aka meat pie, Scotch pie) or a mince pie (filled with mincemeat, which is not the same as minced meat, and is not meat at all). Still, both are simply delightful.

I drove past that housing estate near Dorchester initiated by Price CHarles on Saturday - campared with most housing developments it looks fantastic, especially now that it's weathering back a bit.

Why do people love to knock him? I think his heads in the right place (rather than in a basket, per Nonegreen).

christmas minced pies did at one time contain meat along with fruit and brandy. However in more recent times the inclusion of meat has gone out of fashion, hence we have mince pies without any minced meat.

Try Lidl mince pies - best ever!

Mmmmm, pie.

Isn't it great to have a PH thread discussing pies again?!
