Who said good service no longer exists?
Discussion
I have a Sony Vaio laptop, about three months out of warranty and the letter “t” key started playing up. I phoned Sony customer services up expecting to get little help, expecting to to pay for the repair and it taking weeks for it to come back.
Their customer service advisor said he would find out if there was anything they could do under the expired warranty. The response was that they would collect it and see what they could do, if any of it was down to me there would be a charge plus carriage etc etc.
That seemed fair enough to me, it had to be done, while they had it I asked them to quote me for replacing the top part of the casing(paint wearing thin) and check the fan(got noisier?). They said they would come back to me with a quote.
DHL collected it last Thursday 1st Dec 5.00pm, took it to France, just got it back now (with a weekend in between) everything repaired, no charge at all.
Sony
Anyone else had better service than that?

i had some good service a few weeks ago, should have mentioned it on here really. starter motor went on my old pug 405. just looked in the yellow pages found a number for someone in the same town. rung him and he said nip it over here, and how soon do you want it?this was at 4:30
got it to him for 5ish. he rang me and i picked it up the same night and put it in in the morning

JVC digital camcorder bought in Singapore went wrong 8 months outside (non-worldwide) warranty - chewed 2 tapes. Cutting long story short, got it repaired by authorised repairer, it then went wrong again on the first day of holiday damaging another tape. JVC not only covered the cost of both repairs but also copied all the tapes to new media. Second repair was over a year outside warranty.
Saab have covered 50% (£90) cost or replacement Direct Ignition module over a year outside 3 yr warranty and 100% of SID replacement (£180) at same time.
However, good service does surprise me these days as it most definately ios not the norm

Sorry, don' ge i

My brother recently managed to push his car out of the garage leaving a door open to be able to reach the handbrake (yes I know, he should have just had the window open instead). The car accelerated out of the garage (drive is on a small slope) and the door hit the garage frame. Result was a badly bent 911 window frame which meant that the door wouldn't close.
Rang up Chris at 911 Bodyshop in Wembley and he said bring it over and he would see what he could do.
2 hours later a new window frame was fixed - how's that for instant service. Top man.

I had a problem with my Sony minidisc seperates unit (fairly pricey at the time so was expecting the worst) found the receipt and it was less than a week out of warranty. Just as I was thinking how unlucky can you get....Sony did the repair via Practical Hifi (where I bought it) totally free! I was expecting to have to pay some silly amount so was well happy with the outcome

We have a top openening Neff oven... wife opened the door and let go. the door hit the floor and the glass smashed. the hinges had completely gone...
I phoned Siemens, Bosch, Neff customer service they said they would send an engineer out to see what could be done. he came two days later put in new hinges and a new glass door and replaced the seals around the edge of the oven...
Got the cheque book out to pay and the guy said "No Charge, the door shouldnt fail"...
I was amazed as we have had the oven for 8 years...
For me the best customer service so far...
