Ok I bought some Apricots in Asda at lunchtime. From the outside they look like Apricots, and some have a slightly furry skin. However the stones vary. Some of the stones are like plum stones (ie dark and smooth) and some are like peach stones (ie lighter and pitted)

I awalys thought Apricots had dark smooth stones, so if they aren;t Apricots what are they!

Probably just different varieties. Most stone fruit varieties are a result of cross breeding, producing slightly different characteristics (ie smooth / furry skin on Nectarines / Peaches).

If it tasted like an Apricot, it probably was.
