I went to Kingston last night and went in by Hampton Crt,i must of taken a wrong turn as i ended up exiting Thames Ditton way.
Years ago when i used to go to Kingston i never had any trouble getting in or out the same way,but in the years they have altered it ive found it a nightmare ,and the signs dont help .

Ime sure these "council road walers" do it on purpose,in times gone by you used to be able to take the most direct route, now, for some reason they always try to push you onto a route out of your way.

Try Norwich. All the signs seem to point the way out! (not a bad thing).
Or Colchester - even my GPS Tomtom got lost.

I reckon it could be the case of the "Road guy" looking over the top of his Pc at his boss and thinking "ile fk him off,ile divert all the traffic down his street"

I seem to remember Lancaster's one way system being dead confusing. Go into the town, get shunted all the way round it, end up being spit back out on the road I came in on. After doing this about three times I managed to work out how to stop at the station, and caught a train.

Kingston is a piece of cake, although I did live there for eighteen years.

READING on the other hand, is an absolute 'mare.

Harlesden/North Acton area can be a bit of a handful too, if you don't know where your're going.

I seem to remember a particularly vicious one way around Ewell and Epsom in Surrey, I used to reverse down one ways (in case cops come down behind, into 1st and away) to make any progress.

kingston is bad the first time, but quite easy. if your last memory when clarence street used to be open its a nightmare now. the kingston one system is and has been the local joke for a very long time.

the one way system around ewell is utterly confusing, and epsom is just one large roundabout with the shops in the middle.

Kingston is fine, even at night-time. Epsom is too small. Woking is a bit daunting cos it's so big. Guildford is sensibly designed IMHO.

Yes, if you stop to look at the map you'll find your car up on bricks when you go to pull away!

Is that a joke or not? I can't find it on the map, but Swindon doesn't look much better on the map.

It's real. Been round it... also the one in Hemel which has six nodes. They are, indeed, a piece of piss.

Yes they are but only once you know about them.*

The first time I arrived at the magic roundabout I was cconfused as F**K becasue I'd never seen anything like it before.

Now another thing Most road users are dicks who don't have a clue about ordinary roundabouts let alone something like that. Orbiting seems to be the local sport around here(telford) always performed with left indicator constantly on for the entire manouver.

*Its all very well knowing what to do at the Magic roundabout but all you need is a tourist ariving at one of the mini roundabouts without a clue where they are going

Kin Woking, ive got the hang of that place now but it always seems like you are going past it then taking loads of left turns to come back on yourself to get to the centre,on the way out i still sometimes end up going between woking and old woking before sussing out where i am.

The problem with a lot of these towns i find is the signs dont conform with the sense of direction, therefore making you doubt the right way to go.

Newport has a bitch of a one-way system, got lost there on the way back from Wales once. Manchester can also be a real nightmare if you don't know it.

I used to live in Newport and now live near Kingston , both of which have truly spectacular one-way systems. This is the worst time of year too as there are loads of extra cars (all lost) full of maniacal Christmas shoppers.
Happy motoring !
