Need to brush your gums as well when you do your teeth.

Invest in a sonic toothbrush - they really help with stuff.

Use mouthwash.

I had a similar thing last year, had a gum infection and they receded a bit - I can give a huge to Oraldene Mouthwash which is great and killed off whatever was lurking in my gum.

Use Oraldene, it worked for me though it might not clear up any infection. It is anti-bacterial though and apparently better than Listerine.

LOL I know what you mean, mine was never bad at all but until it cleared up I found myself facing over people's shoulders when I was talking to them - either that or not talking at all

Made a trip to boots but couldnt find anyone that wanted to serve me ,in the end although i felt the obvious pull towards Listerine (Oh Clifford),i got some Oraldene medicated mouthwash & Gengigel medicated gum creme for under a tenner.

Even the wild life round my way was suffering,

Firstly Id suggest going to your dentist.

If it is a gum infection, you might need treatment which involves more than having antibiotics etc.

As an initial measure, you could buy some Corsodyl Mouthwash. Rinse with it and actually brush it into your gums. Dont over rely on it though, as it will stain your teeth long-term.

In general, you should get your teeth scaled (if you are prone to tartar buildup)
fairly regularly. (3/6/or12 monthly) Its usually bacteria-infested tartar that accumulates under the gumline, that starts the process of gum disease.
You can minimize the numbers of these bacteria yourself, by flossing daily and brushing well two or three times a day.

Hope this helps.

Don't fanny about with naff mouthwashes, just brush your teeth with this -

Available everywhere, it certainly sorted out my dodgy gums and I haven't had any probs or nasties like cold sores since I've used it.

Knowing Cliffy it's probably caused by a close encounter with a furry cup.....

Or it could be your mouth reacting to you giving up smoking.
