I have noticed a number of people seem to sign their posts twice. Why? We can see your name from in the margin. Why put it again at the end of everything you say?

Is is only me tht finds it mildly irritating? I am quite prepared to accept that it is just me...

Can't say that I find it particularly irritating, but I share your befuddlement as to why they do it.

I actually find it quite endearing. Somehow or other it seems to make the post more personal.

That's a fair comment. I am often irritated by many things...

Right now the heavy woollen undergarments are chafing quite badly...

I always sign with my christian name as it is less formal than my sign on name which is a portmantau of my christian and last names. Since I feel I am among friends here I can be more casual.

Just to please the author of this thread I will not sign this post

You people can't have much to worry about if this kind of thing gets under your skin.

Same here. I do it occasionally and normally on a topic that has touched me in some way (ill kids/parents and the like) and use my christian name to try and show the face and person behind the login.

This place is the best...
I now know what portmantau means, I think!

Many thanks,
