Is this sensible?

'Hundreds of persistent offenders in the North Wales Police force area are being sent Christmas cards to urge them to keep out of trouble.... It tells would-be offenders that the "eyes and ears" of the police are "everywhere" and advises that acts of crime could result in spending the festive break in prison.

In the U.S. occasionally I've read in the news that the cops will send out invitations to perps with outstanding warrants to come to a free Superbowl party or come pick up the 27" T.V. you've won......Gets a good group of the offenders gathered in one place, where they are easily arrested.....Good on the cops..

Yes, but the next step is that anyone with 3 points will get a card showing Santa being caught by a speed camera and a booklet saying how many children they'll kill...

Just send a card with a fat tattoo'd criminal looking bloke, called bubbe, blowing a kiss from behind some bars with the caption, merry christmas, hope to see you soon.

Something like that should make them think twice before committing a crime

Money would be better spent sending spoof "You have won the lottery" letters to wanted criminals ..... with an address to collect the winnings ....... this was done some time ago in the States and they rounded up quite a few criminals this way !

A few weeks ago the Met did that with an invitation to Wembley and arrested a number of 'chaps to help with their enquiries'

My local police wrote to a guy they wanted back in the UK because he had been abusing his daughters friends over many years, saying he had unique skils and they wanted him to help them run a course (he had done work for them previously). They knew that if they applied for extradition he would intimidate the witnesses. When he arived to be met at the airport he was taklen to the cells rather than th 4 star hotel he had been promised! Never mind European arrest warrants, guile is cheaper and quicker every time.

They also set up a flat, filled it with a 'single mum' and a van load of goodies delivered in broad daylight for all the baddies to see. Covered the goodies in Smart Water and put in CCTV cameras, then sat back and waited. After it had been broken into a few times the neighbour who was doing al the burglaries in the block was caught and had been followed to where he was selling it!

Saw a documentary with Donald MacIntry where he did that.
