They really should have taken him out when they had the chance, he is just going to be an attention seeking pain in the rearend like Milosevic now. Basically they are making a mockery of the legal systems.

We all know he did it, just hang the bastard and get it over with, no-one is really going to complain are they?

He plainly lives in a parallel universe where everything is very different. He is certainly not in this world and posesses the gaul of a true madman....

The sooner the Iraqi's decide to hang the the better.....

had a letter from my brother yesterday - he'd been supporting some iraqi army troops searching some farmhouses looking for insurgents. Sounds as though the Iraqi Army aren't perhaps as good as we'd all like them to be. The op started badly with them giving my brother's boys the wrong grid reference, then the Iraqis approached the front doors of the insurgent houses - like kids singing carols. Needless to say, some of them were killed.

There's lot of stuff that I don't think I should write on a public forum. Interesting stuff though, and exciting (if not bloody dangerous) for my bro and his boys.

Perhaps things out there aren't as quiet as the press might have us believe? Certainly nothing in the papers about this (fairly major?) firefight in the British area, resulting in several Iraqi Army and insurgent deaths. Fortunately all Brits came out OK.

I know where I'd rather be at Christmas!

there is no real legal system in iraq any more. the one that was there was the one that ordered the execution of these people that saddam's up on trial for

they (the americans) can't just fit him up or execute him without trial, because that's one of the reasons they supposedly are there, to stop that sort of thing, enduring freedom etc

they can't question him too deeply about things he's been up to in the past, when he was a 'tame' US client state, or the full tale of US/UK involvement/support will come out and they want to keep that quiet

It is very important that justice in a middle eastern democratic society is seen to be done.

A lot of people seem to have become interested in the trial of Saddam, and are anxiously awaiting his receipt of the death penalty. What the vast majority of peop[le do not seem to realise is that prior to his ill advised foray into Kuwait he was courted by the same western nations that brought him down, in fact people like Robert Mugabe and Colonel Mengistu, and Kim thingummy from Korea are all far worse to their own peoples than Saddam ever was. Only they just don't have the oil reserves to make liberating their peoples worthy. A sad fact is that the majority of Iraqis were better off before we intervened.

Id hate to see him hanged. He'd go down as a heroic martyr in the eyes of some, and his memory would fuel further violence, over decades maybe even centuries to come. It would be much better for the world at large if he was imprisoned with no possibility of release, and died from old age in jail.

that could be a good idea actually , or better still they could do it the "Life Of Brian" way and crucify him as long as he does not break into the song "always look on the bright side of life".The location is ideal , it's still the Middle East. Then you could have a bunch of Sunnis visiting him and giving him the "thumbs up"
, or the republican guards committing mass suicide in front of him

Let's be honest - all these war crimes trials are just an opportunity for some mad dictator to claim that the Western world is against him.
