My sister is moving to just outside Royston in a couple of weeks.

Does anyone know of a pleasant location ie. parkland, lake....something like Virginia Water for example where my Mum could drive for about 1 - 1hr 15mins from Farnham, Surrey (at Mum speed) and my sister could drive down for about 20-30mins.

They'd like to meet up for an hour or so, taking a flask of coffee and/or picnic.

My sister has a 4 month old son, so somewhere where they could push a buggy would be great.

We've looked at the map and Hatfield House, whilst nice, charges about a tenner per head, so that's out.

Thanks in advance,

Graham

The grounds in Knebworth House are very nice (don't know if you have to pay though)
They are just off the A1 Stevenage south.

Fairlands Valley in Stevenage is ok and free. Also lakes near Welyn make a good meeting point.

Just north of Royston (wrong direction I know) is Wimpole Hall an NT owned estate, where's you sister moving to, we're just outside Royston too.

Wimpole is very good and free/£1 in an honesty box.

Ben (also just outside Royston)

I drove through the grounds of Woburn Abbey today. That would be a perfect meeting point and free as well!! Be great in the summer with all the deer roaming around.

Probably no more than 30 mins from Royston and your mum could get to it easy from Farnham by heading up the M1 (much closer for her!)

Problem solved!
