I got this from someone at christmas. Its called the gatekeeper and its doing my head in.
you have to remove the metal ring without smashing or cutting it to pieces. I'm far too stupid to contemplate doing anything like this. If I wanted to get the ring off I would by smashing it I hate rules any idea how to do it properly?

Screw the wooden block into the bedroom wall at about 1ft above head height, insert your Mrs hands and wrists into the rubber hoops above her head...... do what comes naturally and forget about the metal ring puzzle.

I don't think his missus is a Barbie doll though!

wind the red cords around the thing and tighten them up - it might create enough movement to get the ring off?

Failing that stamp on it - or put your keys on the ring for a reminder of how you aren't very good at puzzles!

Presumably the metal ring fits over the wodden end piece on the left had side, just not over the two black rings?

yes. and the yellow balls stop the rings passing between the wooden posts.

Okay, well I've got one of these but not to hand.

Try putting the right hand ring through the wooden slot, keeping it to the left of the metal ring. Then slide the metal ring off to the left and it should now be on the end of the string, with two ends, two black rings and a bead below it. The other bead will be holding the loop of rope at the wooden slot. Now bring the metal ring up through the slot and it should just pop off the end of the rope, I think.

There's a couple of extra steps which I can't visualise without having the thing in front of me, but its pretty much along those lines.

Did this 'thing' come in a box with instructions then? If not, how do you know that's what you are supposed to do?

Dead easy, just put the metal thing as far right as you can, then pass one of the placcy black ones through the middle, and then again so you can just remove the placcy black things all together then slide the metal dealy off the end.

Done one of these before - you need to kindof make a loop in the string and pass the rubber ring and ball through it, it then appears on the other side, slide metal ring off, repeat and the rings are on the other side, hey presto
