Does anyone have/know the breakdown of star wars characters, and how their voices were created?

i know tie fighters were 2 sounds mixed together. An elephant trumpeting and a car driving down a wet road.

I actually wanted to know how the tuscan raider sound was created, but I cant say why or my girlfriend will kill me

Vader's breathing was done by the sound effects guys using a mic and an aqualung.

In the recent "Revenge of the Sith", the mechanical Darth Sidious's nasty cough was Lucas himself who had a real humdinger of a cold at the time.

I think you'll find that was Stephen Speilberg. Perhaps you're getting confused with "warden" in Blues Brothers 2000?

He also played the examiner in Spies Like Us though.

Stars borrows bit's and pieces from all sorts of films, mostly samurari, westerns and war films.

For example the trench run from the original starwars film was for the most part a thinly disguised copy of the dambusters, even the dialouge is virtually identical.

No, he's getting confused with the property clerk at the beginning of the original Blues Brothers. The guy that give John Belushi's character his clothes (and used proferlactic) back to him

He was also the voice of Miss Piggy and Fozzie Bear in the Muppets too.

Bugger! You're right. Frank Oz played the Corrections Officer.

wasnt James Earl Jones brought in at the last minute because there was no "Black" actors in the movie, or is that a myth??

Not heard that. I thought it was just because David Prowse (sp?) had a broad westcountry acent and it didn't fit.

'Luke, Oim yer faaarrr-ther'

And was leaking any information he had like a seive IIRC. The lines prowse spoke were very different to those dubbed over the top later as a result of this (once again IIRC).

Kinda right on many counts. Yes, Dave "Oo-arr" Prowse does indeed have a very broad accent and original footage of him speaking Darth Vader's lines is hilarious. However, he was always intended to be dubbed.

James Earl Jones was used because he had a voice with the right gravitas and timbre. I don't think there was any racial angle at all.

Dave Prowse was indeed leaking information, but that was discovered way after the casting and choice of voice so was not a factor in the choice of James Earl Jones as TheLemming is suggesting. When they filmed the scene in Ep5 where Vader reveals himself as Luke's father, Prowse was given lines that said that Obi Wan is Luke's father and Mark Hamil was told by Lucas to (over)act as if Prowse had said the correct lines. Hardly anyone knew the true lines and James Earl Jones said in an interview that he was shocked when he read the lines he was asked to read ("Luke - I am your father" ) to the point of clarifying that they were correct before recording them!

I know I got this wrong myself in an earlier post but actually the line is: 'No, I am your father', Vader never says Luke.

It's like the famous 'beam me up Scotty' mis-quote.

That's bad. Almost as bad as the one where Vader and Luke are in a Chinese resteraunt and Luke can't get the hang of chopsticks...

"Use the forks, Luke".

Not many out-nerd me. I really want the Star Wars trivial pursuit but I don't know anyone that would play against me.
