I keep seeing adverts for cash covertors on Men and Motors, so has anyone had experience dealing with them? I could do with selling some items which I don't want to put on ebay like a TV, printer and a flat screen monitor, so do they give you a reasonable price?

Or even what are they like to buy from?

They give you nothing and charge the earth. The difference is their profit.

There is a shop near me that takes any old crap and markets it on ebay on your behalf... taking a percentage.

Great idea if you are busy or dont have the time.

I wish there was one of them near here . How does it work? Do they take a percentage if is sells or not? and what about listing fees etc. I have 2 sheds FULL of electronic 'junk' but cannot be arsed to pack it all up (the boring bit).

Their prices are not reasonable, but if you cant be arsed with flogging items on ebay, its worth dropping them off, if you dont mind waiting 5 minutes whilst they test it. Leave your droids outside before going in though - you will never find a more wretched hive of chavscum and villany.

if you even look like you are going into the one in Croydon you will get surrounded by scrotes asking if you will sell their moble because they are "too young innit". They then get arsey if you tell them to get lost.

It's not all bad, in the past Ive got a WEM valve amp, ibanez guitar & a Marin mountain bike from those places - all for about £50-60 each.

Still, they are as pikey as you like

I could post it to you if you want, wouldn't be too expensive I don't think. If you're interested email me through my profile.

The CC ad where the guy buys a second hand engagement ring, while his girlfriend looks on, all smiles. Yeah right.

Back in my yoof, I had an entire fishtank setup worth about £100 (a lot in them days!) and i called Cash Converters not ever having used them before to ask what they would do

"yes come on down and we will give you a good deal"

Got a mate (didnt hold a license for any vehicles) to drive me in, walked the stuff through the town centre- the guy offered me £9.50

What a ****

Sold it a week later via the freads for £120

to quote Obi Wan from Star Wars "you will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy, we must tread cautious." (sorry to any star wars fans if i have misquoted)
have had dealings with Cash Convertors in the past and ALWAYS ended up getting obscenely ripped off. much prefer a local ad now if i have to sell something that i know is woth more than their con artists lead me to believe.
you do occaisionally get the odd bargain or sale but most of their stuff is probably seized goods bailiffs couldn't get shot of, you could easily imagine all their stock was once inside a police lockup somewhere.
i personally don't trust them, for example the last time used them i was selling a portable DVD player, some old DVD films i hadn't got space in my collection for, so i took them to the cash convertors in Huntingdon got offered £30 for the player and 25p each for the DVD's
the DVD player (i thought) was quite basic so i took the £30 for it. i didn't sell them the DVD's as i knew a local shop that would offer a much better price for them, got chatting to the bloke behind the till and mentioned the DVD player and he said if someone was to offer him one he'd take £100 for it! complete and utter b*d's!!

I work for an almost competitor to cash convertors; their pricing is criminal. A lot of our customers come in complaining about the margins their. Some people moan that our margins can be as high as 40-50%; before they see what the competition work on.

The market is largely driven by people that *NEED* cash then and there; which leaves you and I unable to 'compete' as it were.

Cash Convertors is the lazy man's eBay.

Why don't you want to sell stuff on eBay? You can select Buyer Collects for item that cannot be posted. I've bought/sold on eBay amongst other things, a giant computer desk, several items of living room furniture, a double mattress and a car!

I could post it but its just the hassle of taking it down to the post office. Or if I put it as buyer collects, then I have the problem of trying to direct them to my house, which no one seems to be able to find when given verbal directions or even a map, and I don't even live out in the countryside...

Blimey. Everything's just too much like hard work, isn't it?

Surely if you're thinking of taking stuff to Ca$hConverters, you could just as easily take it to the post office?

Yoof of today etc etc

What size is the monitor and how much do you want for it?
