So who here is a supporter and who thinks they are a bunch of mentalist who are brainwashed into doing crazy dangerous stuff under the bluff of animal rights ?

Was watching Big Brother and the monkey coat thing came up ( which I don't agree with ) but then Jodie satrted talking about her being a spokes person for PETA etc and I started thinking I bet she doesn't know alot of the politics behind it or some of their methods.

What your opinions

I think some people regard it as a fashionably desirable position to hold while others genuinely believe in it

Totally despise them and all that they stand for. Dangerous, unstable individuals. Yet another politically correct, left wing pressure group inhabited by lazy, good for nothing idiots who should be doing something more constructive with their time. Shoot the lot.

I copied this from their website.........apparently keeping a pet goldfish is evil......

"fish, who were born to dwell in the majestic seas and forage among brilliantly colored coral reefs, suffer miserably when forced to spend their lives in glass aquariums. The same is true of river fish. Robbed of their natural habitats and denied the ability to travel freely, they must swim around in the same few cubic inches of water over and over."

"Fish have cognitive abilities that equal and sometimes surpass those of nonhuman primates. They can recognize individuals, use tools, and maintain complex social relationships.(9) Biologists wrote in Fish and Fisheries that fish are “steeped in social intelligence, pursuing Machiavellian strategies of manipulation, punishment and reconciliation, exhibiting stable cultural traditions, and co-operating to inspect predators and catch food.”(10)

They're a bunch of loonies if you ask me

Apparently it's also an act of unspeakable cruelty to shear sheep, and silk shoudl be banned as it cause "a painful death for insects"

No, I most certainly do not. However, I would suggest you scratch beneath their politically correct spin of the organisation's title. Go onto their website, have a look at their policies and mission statements. Read about their campaigns. Look at historical news about what murky activities they are involved in. You may be somewhat surprised. Wretched Communists.

Based on a quick perusal of their well thought out and balanced arguments I would say that they are

It would be fine if they were just harmless eccentrics but it seems that they do actually go around attacking and inimidating people.

Indeed. A despicable act if you ask me. Many of these so called 'ethical' agencies have dark histories. Or so I'm finding out in my ethics research.
