Serious question - if anyone's mad enough they are!

They've done it before with other countries in the Middle East, and I for one wouldn't be surprised if there's an Israeli airstrike on Iran's nuclear facilities - particularly when you factor in the Iranian President's recent comments about wiping Israel off the map. Also, it wouldn't surprise me if Israel act sooner rather than later because there is currently significant international condemnation of Iran. As such, from a political expediency perspective it would be comparatively easy for Israel to defend such action now, than in, say, 9 months time when there maybe some compromise by the Iranians.

Isn't it more likely that the US will bomb Iran? Current rumours are that hostilites with Iran will commence before the end of March.

ps, I'm not saying an attack on Iran will be either easy or wise.

They've done it before, I dare say they'll do it again - FWIW I can completely understand why, I wouldn't be too keen on them having nukes and if I was Israel I would be doing anything I could to prevent it.

We can't afford to. Iraq, Afghanistan and the Balkans are taking too much away from the Allied forces. UK has already admitted it can only sustain 2 medium sized operations - currently Iraq and Afghanistan. We simply don't have enough soldiers or money. Neither does the US.

Israel may do something rash, if it does then I imagine the US and limited UK involvement will commence but only in the form of air support. We really shouldn't mess with Iran until Iraq is tied up.

"We dont recognise the Holocaust", O! and by the way we dont give a damn what the rest of the world thinks ,we are going ahead with our Nuclear programme,,,already it has all the signs of being a bigger threat than Iraq ever was.
I smell a conflict or even a Nuclear accident coming on,hopefully one that will stay that side of the globe.

1. The US $ is the worlds reserve currency, the US can, if it needs to literally print money.

2. It may not take the form of a desert storm type ground invasion, rather it may mean a series of tactical bomber/cruise missle strikes.

Nah Iran is a different kettle of fish to Iraq.

Iran will be dealt with through covert means imo. Knock off a few key scientists, leaders etc will do the trick.

The US press seem to be discussing the possbility of an attack in Iran much more openly/bullishly than the UK press.

Isn't it the usual good cop (uk) bad cop (us) approach as in the previous 2 Middle East wars?

It is a tricky situation in Iran.

Israel would be perfectly justified in taking out their Nuclear facilities. But I would hope the situation could be resolved by negotiation backed up by trade sanctions if necessary.

Unlike Saddam's Iraq, I cant see Iran just throwing over a few scuds over, if Isreal bombed a its most valuable installations. That coupled with a leader who is ideologically opposed to Isreals very existance is a bit worrying.

It has to potential (in a worst case scenario) to make the Isreali/Palastinian issue look like a playground scrap

You just know its coming when a religion fails to recognise a past historic event,i think ime right in saying that this will be the 2nd year running that the muslim council in the UK has failed to acknowledge the Holocaust(i saw in the news but please correct me if ime wrong),which doesnt help matters and if it kicks off big time in Iran will this trigger action amongst radical groups in the west?

Anyone remember this one playing back in 1979?

Bomb Iran
(to the tune of "Barbara Ann" by the Beach Boys)

Bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb, Iran.
Bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb, BOMB IRAN!
Let's take a stand, bomb Iran.
Our country's got a feelin'
Really hit the ceilin', bomb Iran.
Bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb Iran.

Went to a mosque, gonna throw some rocks.
Tell the Ayatollah..."Gonna put you in a box!"
Bomb Iran. Bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb Iran.
Our country's got a feelin'
Really hit the ceilin', bomb Iran.
Bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb Iran.

Ol' Uncle Sam's gettin' pretty hot.
Time to turn Iran into a parking lot. Bomb Iran.
Bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb Iran.

Call the volunteers; call the bombadiers;
Call the financiers, better get their ass in gear.
Bomb Iran. Bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb Iran.
Our country's got a feelin'
Really hit the ceilin', bomb Iran.
Bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb Iran.

Call on our allies to cut off their supplies,
Get our hands untied, and bring em' back alive. Bomb Iran.
Bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb Iran.
Our country's got a feelin'
Really hit the ceilin', bomb Iran.
Bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb Iran.

Bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb Iran.
Bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb, BOMB IRAN!
Let's take a stand, bomb Iran.
Our people you been stealin'
Now it's time for keelin', bomb Iran.
Bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb Iran.

One VERY frightening aspect of the nuclear development in Iran is that the president has publicly stated he will make the "technology" available to other muslim and arab countries ........roll on armageddon.

I wouldn't want to live or work anywhere near that installation. There is no way the Isrealis will let production of weapons grade uranium begin.

Sorry, but this statement is utter rubbish.

The current president of Iran, who is a nutter, even by Iranian standards, holds this belief. The MCB does not deny the occurrence of the holocaust, but are stupid enough to try and make some political capital out their non-attendance, trying to draw attention to the plight of the Palestinians, although this action just makes them look stupid.

Having said that, Israel may well decide to attack, it has certainly done it before, but I think with the fragile situation in Israel, re the 'peace' process, it would be an incredibly stupid move to make, unilaterally. I doubt that an acting PM of Israel would risk making a possibly big mistake, just prior to elections. Although Netanyahu may well play the aggressor, if he is elected, and if he is elected, kiss goodbye to the peace process, and hello to an escalation in violence.
