What's the general consensus?

Should we strive to become codgers or should we dodge old age by living to excess, thus escaping toothless gobs and rickets?

What is your philosophy ?

Maybe so - but I generally enjoy life and want to for a long time to come.

But I have a feeling I might not reach 100 somehow.

Quite, advoid alcohol, eat bran flakes for breakfast, avoid red meat, steer clear of dangerous sports, and you just might live long enough to spend that last 10 years or so of your life doddering around, wetting yourself and having gibbering conversations with the pot plants.

Personally I'd rather be completely ga-ga at 80 than become a slob unable/unwilling to have sex, drive small sports cars, ride motorbikes, do sports etc at 50 through over consumption.

When I become incapable of wiping my own ass unaided I want to be put in a boxand shoved in an oven on gas mark 2,000,000,000,000.

Age isnt really a factor in this but does exclude Friday night boozing.

I feel sorry for all the healthy 100 year olds that will be laying in a bed dying of nothing...

Live fast, die young, have a good looking corpse.

Nah, I'd rather keep fit and die suddenly of a heart attack while jogging or something, but having enjoyed feeling good all my life, than smoke/drink/eat to excess and die of some wasting disease.

You can't choose your fate unfortunately, im sure a great number of healthy people die from slow degenerative illnesses like cancer, parkinsons, etc.

sex at 40 is fine, but somebody else has to steer.
