Any Electricians out there? - Help!
Discussion
I need some urgent advice. I have a Memera 2000AD fuse box. One of the trip switches is only working intermittently in that it will not pass current even when it is on. How do I get it out of the fusebox to replace it. I have switched of the supply and removed the fusebox cover. I got as far as removing the copper conductor strip at the bottom of the trip switches, however, I couldn't work out what to do next and I didn't want to experiment by torch light.
Any help would be appreciated. My appologies if I am using the wrong terminology.

PP,
From a position of (dangerous) ignorance, it sounds like you are on the right lines, keep going.
When I replaced the RCD in my fusebox the other day, it was along these lines, and not too difficult. The terminals screwed onto the copper strip and the RCD itself clipped into the main casing.
Hope that helps. Erm, another bit of advice, play it safe.
Oli.

You removed the copper strip! .......
Normally all you need to do is slacken the screw (on the live side) which connects the breaker to the strip. Lift out the other end of the breaker first, then pull it out clear of the strip......Oh! disconnect the outgoing wire first.....

On my fusebox, you turn the main circuit off (the big switch that says on/off), remove the fuse/rcd, remove the front panel, then remove the socket for the rcd.
Mines an old fusebox though, one of the brown ones.
Didn't think you had electricity there yet PoD!.....:chuckle-chuckle:..........

You may find that there's a little plastic clip on the top that you need to insert a screwdriver into the top of and lever it so it pulls upwards.
You'll find that it's behind where the cable went into the cricuit breaker at the top.
As has been said - you normally only need to slacked the screw on the copper bar at the bottom.
Just make sure that you've got the main breaker switched off.

heh, you should see the remnants of the vulcanised rubber cabling that used to be the wiring for this house
What! Lead covered VR?....That's as leaky as a government ministers phone line!
Still, you weighed the lead in I hope!..........
My last house (built in 1928) still had parallel lengths of cloth-covered wire supported by ceramic insulators...with a separate earthing system.
