Technical support courier f**k up

I’ve had to send my iPod back for repair under warranty recently. Apple had what I thought was quite a slick system where they UPS a box out to you with all the packaging and return bag and label. You just put the iPod in the box, put the box in the UPS bag and hand it back to UPS. Once Apple has it, they fix it or replace it, and then UPS the repaired or replacement unit back out to you. Simple… not!
The replacement unit has gone AWOL in UPS’s system because Apple has put the wrong shipping address on it. It started in the Netherlands and has been batted between Koeln airport and East Midlands airport no less than SEVEN TIMES in the last 5 days! It’s supposed to be going to Malta.

I’ve phoned UPS to try to give them the correct address but they can’t take it from me, it has to come from Apple.
I phoned Apple on Tuesday to give them the correct address but since then it’s gone back and fourth between Koeln and East Midlands another 3 or 4 times so obviously they didn’t pass it onto UPS.
I phoned them again today. I’m told they can’t change the address once it’s been despatched – which sounds like bo**ocks to me. So, they suggest I phone UPS and arrange a collection from the depot. I should explain at this point that I’m on the line to Apple support in India so I inform the guy that the package is in England which is 1500 miles plus two large stretches of water away so that’s not really practical. He then starts babbling on about the fact that Malta is an IMC country and they can’t ship there. Well they got the return box out here so they can get the iPod out here. There is a UPS office in Malta. Besides, what does that mean? Because I’m in Malta tough s**t you don’t get your iPod back? I never did get what IMC stood for out of him but the M stands for Military so f**k knows what he was on about. It’s been left at he’s going to email UPS and the despatch department the correct address and ask them to change it, which is what they did on Tuesday.
What gets me is these idiots at UPS that keep shipping it between Koeln and East Midlands. Obviously there’s a problem with the address so why not contact Apple to tell them something’s wrong or send it back to them rather than just passing it off to your colleagues in another country hoping the problem will go away.
