I can. I know because I do at the moment...
But it's no fun at all!

Have... to... be... patient!

My daily commute would be in the order of 2-3 hours each way instead of 25 minutes so no I really don't see that as an alternative.

NO.

Need it for shopping - no buses.
Need it to visit family - public transport is to expensive and takes way to long.

No...

Had to do so for a few months, four years ago.....dispute with dealer.

Still needed the family to help with car transport to supermarket, etc.

Week one of bike riding nearly killed me, but felt great after that. Something to do with fitness or something.....

In all, loss of the car was a bummer.

We urgently need an attitude change by our rulers. Driving a privilege? Bollox, it's a necessity, and government takes far too lightly the mental and practical difficulties of licence deprivation. Anything the Court deems "anti social behaviour" can now be punished with a driving ban.

This has to stop.

I can and do live without my car, but I live on a decent bus route near shops and have family that don't mind picking me up from a station

It's living without my bike that's the hard thing (don't have a garage up here atm)

I guess i could if i took to cycling everywhere. Where i live the nearest shop is 2 miles away, so realistically i do need some kind of car sitting on the driveway

Nein. Have lot of kittens to transport here und there. Could not keep eye on all on bike rides.

At moment when we ride - Mad Doc lead with youngest kitten in trailer attached to his bike - followed by our twelve year old und the twins helop with the rogues. i take up the rear. But ist hard work und when you shop for provisions for this size family - you need the biggest boot for the loot!

Also in country miles from most places und not on busy bus route - so car needed und we work some distance from home anyway Beside we like the drives

Nope - impossible.

I live in a village that is on a bus route, but with busses that run once an hour.
My work is where my company's customers are - mostly on out-of-town business parks.
If I were to use public transport to travel to my nearest customer, I'd have to catch a bus into my local town (Chippenham) - taking about 30 mins.
From there, a train to Swindon - a further 10 mins (I guess).
From Swindon, another bus out of town to my customer's office (assuming the bus actually went there).
Having got to site, oh dear, my pager's just gone off - a system down at Bristol!
Back on the bus.......

My most distant customer is in Swansea - I'd have to plan a visit over two days if I used public transport!

...and I'd have to carry a toolcase, spare parts and my laptop - so, as I said - impossible.

I was thinking that with the arrival of grand turismo 3/4,P.G.Racing 3, moto GP 4,TOCA and all the other fabulous racing games out there that I would still be able to blast round nurburgring and do trackdays at Jerez/Donington..etc if I were to give up motoring. I`ve been trying, without much success to save cash for these excursions, for bloody ages and I`m still nowhere near!
The price of a trip must exceed £500+ per time which, at twice my weekly wage, and with a young 4 year old daughter cannot be justified.

Virtual reality is bloody great...

Keep a lookout for "TOURIST TROPHY" coming out this year for PS2.
********Grand Turismo 4 with Bikes.......*********

I`ll never leave the house again!

Had to do it back in 2000 when I stacked my celica...

As the celica was so expensive to run (it worked out cheaper to hire a limo weekly) I decided to try and live without a car. Shopping was annoying, as was the inability to just turn the key and go somewhere or meet someone

I had enough after 3 weeks...

Can I live without a car - ARE YOU NUTS???

I'd have to spend all my hard earned on sensible things.
