Wapping! Advice on living there!
Discussion
Hi there,
Considering buying a place in Riverside Mansions (are you familiar with the place?) if one comes up.
Could you guys out there with any experience of the area or building get back to me please?
(1) What the building like? Does it feel like a council block?
(2) Is it safe?
(3) What are the transport links like?
(4) Are the buses any good?
(5) Is it a decent investment? DO property experts around expect it will appreciate?
Any and all information would be gratefully accepted! I am a first time buyer and badly NEED to get this right!!
Best regards to all...

I lived in Shadwell when I was at uni (the other side of The Highway, the posher more desirable side
).
I can't comment on the individual block you are looking at but Wapping is a nice place to live. Transport is pretty easy, the East London line will get you to Canada Water to connect for Docklands or into town via the Waterloo. Take a walk on the wild side through Shadwell and you can hop straight onto the DLR. There are night buses which run down the Highway.
Finally you can drink at The Prospect Of Whitby, London's oldest waterfront pub which has a cracking beer garden overlooking the Thames (not to mention its own Gallows). Also when I was there a pub called the Cuckoo used to do good lock ins for local bar staff which were pretty good.
