On for the PH collective 'hive mind' I'm looking into opening a spread betting account.

I'm primarily interested in directional bets on equities, commodities and currencies, as opposed to sports etc.

Do any of you guys use spread betting firms? Does anybody know which offer the widest market coverage?

City Index & IG Index the better ones for coverage they go from straight vanilla equity trades up to CDO'S and Exotic Options.

i used to use IG Index before compliance rules made it near impossible to trade.

nice little pop-up trading screen that allows you to monitor positions and switch funds from your bank account <-> IG quickly.

had quite a bit of luck with Bond Futures...<sigh>

Cheers guys I've been looking at FinSpreads, CitySpreads, IGIndex.

I guess they're all much of a muchness.

Only dissapointment is that in terms of equities it's almost all UK or US stocks, my two least favourites markets right now!

Oh well at least there seems to be a Gold, Silver and Copper contracts for each.
