Despite my normal reticence to "waste" money renting DvDs and instead prefer to waste it buying them, I've got a couple of "rent one get one free" vouchers for Blockbuster to use up before the end of the month.

So can anyone recommend something thats out (or coming out before the end of the month) thats worth watching?

Btw in other news, it appears that Blockbuster have now ended their "promise" policy (ie if you want it and its not in stock, you can have it free next time - but not any more)...

If Crash or Batman Begins are out yet then they're worth it.
Seen Sin City yet?

Funny, I was gonna mention Wolf Creek , Wedding Crashers is very funny, or, if you want dumb fun watching the US blowing stuff up and showing the 'dumb commies' how great the yanks are, Stealth is out on Monday!

for a bit of a scare try The Descent - watched it last night and nearly "jettisoned my rubbish" five times

quality flick by Neil Marshall who wrote and Directed the excellent Dog Soldiers

"The Descent" is excellent. A very scary film that made my girlfriend jump practically through the ceiling

Sin City I've got, Batman Begins I also have.

Wedding crashers is a possible, thought it looked a bit rubbish, but severak people eem to think it was pretty funny, so perhaps that will go on the list as well.

Stealth is a must. Blow things up? Bad acting? Terrible Storyline? Sounds like I will love it.

I was going to see that one at the cinema but used up my "bloke film" credits with the GF going to see Serenity (which is a total must-see).

Edited to add:

Kung Fu Hustle has been suggested, that one is so utterly excellent its unreal. Cant praise it ighly enough, even if it is a bit strange and the dubbing is a bit dodgy (but you dont really notice that after a few minutes, its that good!).

The new adam sandler prison football flick seems to have some good responses, sounds like a good one considering I like the adam sandler stuff.

Wolf Creek Sent my girlfriend down to get that one not long ago, but she decided she idnt want to "watch a film about gay cowboys"... Seems she got it confused with brokeback mountain.

Cheers guys, got my list sorted now unless there are any more recommendations.

Stealth
Adam Sandler flick
Wedding Crashers
Wolf Creek

Two for me, two for her

Funny you say that about Wedding Crashers, I thought exactly the same when I was pulled, kicking and screaming, to watch it! However, I did genuinelly thouroughly enjoy it, so much so, in fact, that I bought the 'Uncorked' version on DVD!

The Island isn't that bad, but don't, whatever you do, rent Dark Water, a real 'puddle' of a film.
I too am looking forward to owning a copy of Serenity!

Wolf creek was very good although i had discounted it previously due to a crap trailer.

THE ISLAND is a very good film. There is room for loads of expansion on the story and indeed several spinoffs but it had me enthralled all the way through.

The new Adam Sandler film was good too Yard or whole yard maybe, can't remember. It's certainly predictable and done to an age old formula but that's what made it good. Stock up on munchies and comfort food and snuggle

If you want something different then see if they have The Escapist. Totally unique and well acted, havn't seen anything with the same story since.
Foreign cinema is good too.
OLD BOY was fantastic!
Kungfu Hustle was better than fantastic!

Not sure if its out yet, but 'Lord of War' with Nick Cage is excellent. Especially the ending
