Hi guy's,

Any divers on PH?

I've booked myself in for a try dive tomorrow (been thinking about it for a couple of years!!) with my local BSAC club and just wondered what I should expect.

Cheers

Expect to get wet and breath underwater

I'm a PADI - did it in Belize a few years ago - had a fantastic time, only problem with diving in one of the best places in the world is where to do it next

I'm PADI cert'd. It's a fantastic experience - thoroughly recommended.

Although, I'd insist on being in luke warm water somewhere tropical if I were you

BSAC Sports diver here. You will love it and if anyone says that UK diving isn't worth it, ignore them I have dived the Red Sea, Cayman Islands and various other places but the James Egan Lane off Plymouth is still the most awesome sight ever. Sitting on the sea bed looking up the bow is a view I will never forget.

Ex Navy ships diver here, plus BSAC, get yourself in the water at fort bovisand down in Plymouth, you will absolutely love it.

One of my favourite dives was at South Georgia, wayyyyyy down south in the ice, the visibility was absolutely unbelievable.....on the flip side, diving in plymouth harbour on submarines was an absolute bummer.

PADI boy myself, only done it in the nice warm water.

One day I will get brave and dip my toes in to UK water..........One day

It is the best thing since sliced bread though just wish i had more time to devote to it.

Im also ex navy diver/ bsac and love it, I agree with the previous comments, UK diving can be just as impressive/rewarding as other global dive sites. Go for it! the feel ing is fantastic, floating whilst in awe of the life around you, enjoy

At 13, (1982'ish) I was the smallest diver they ever had staying at Bovi, so i got a new wetsuit But i had to wear one that was too big the first few days. :chilly:.

I dived /dove? in and around the harbour and the Sound, and my experience was pretty much zero visibility and cold water and strong currents! I plan on going somewhere nice to do some diving one day...

I'm a PADI Advanced, but I'm a wimp and have only ever dived in warm water so far (a pool in London, Mauritius, Maldives, lots of places in the Caribbean). I'm thinking of doing my Rescue Diver in the UK this year though.

Cheers guy's!

One of my mates who dives said the best experience he had was diving scapa flow a couple of years back - think it was his first wreck dive - apparently it was the most awesome thing to see the wreck appear out of the gloom!

Really looking forward to it - just hope I don't get clostrephobic or anything!!

Started with BSAC (in 1980) and then went to PADI and now NAUI. Done over 6000 dives

hedders we might have been there around the same time. I did 2 or 3 "summer seasons" at Bovi. Do you recall your instructors? Pete Farrell? Pete Sonavabitch?

Top tip from me - I'd recommend doing the Nitrox course in addition to becoming qualified - personally I feel ten times better post dive, without the dry mouth fatigue after a long dive, breathing this mixture (and it is safer too)

PADI advanced. Unlike many did basic and advanced courses in the UK (advanced in November in an ill fitting semi-dry ffs) and glad I did. It's so easy to dismiss UK diving but it has soem real treasures.

I'm PADI advenced.

I learnt to dive in Jamaica when 16, did my PADI course in St Lucia when 17 and my advanced course in Antigua when 18. Suffice to say I was in for a shock the first time I diven in British waters.

It certainly does. Particularly the Thursday afternoon flight on Air New Zealand to Fiji!

Americans and their "dove" is that gets me! I dove here, I dove there. I mean, when you've been out for a jive you don't say "I jove here" do you, By Jive?
