Most of my heros are members of my family!

Beyond that it's anyone whose name is associated with a product, typically but not always, a car, that I admire.

Colin Chapman
Harry Miller
Dyson (non car - vacuum cleaners!)
Henry Royce (actually Frederick H Royce!)

I was at a Brit Awards after show party at the Grosvenor House Hotel some years ago- and I spotted James Hunt. He was wearing a white tuxedo and had been employed to adjudicate a Scalextric (four lane track) event for charity.

Some hours later, there he was on his own, drinking a very large whisky and using the wall for support.

I, kind of stupidly, approached him and asked why he didn't get into sportscar/Le Mans racing after he quit F1. He drunkenly mumbled something about those cars being too slow. When I replied that the then Silk Cut, Walkinshaw, Jaguars were capable of 200+ mph down the (then unrestricted) Mulsanne straight, he told me to off.

I duly ed off and was happy never to meet him again.
