Anyone know, why on my packet of salami that I had earlier it told me to open it 15mins before serving?
Is this a reference to the amount of time it takes to get into the packet so that if you're having a dinner party you don't delay the meal or does something exciting happen in the 15 minutes? I just ate it without reading the packet until after so I don't know.

Mebbe it lets it breathe...or warm to room temp..mebbe it just doesn't appreciate the stress of WOP!!! straight out of packet into mouth...mebbe it needs time to psych itself up...
Its probably been packed in a " protected atmosphere" ie inert gas with no bugs lurking in it which means that it could need a bit of time out of the packaging to develop its flavour of greasy driedout spam......
Actually just checked some Chorizo salami I have here and it was indeed packed in a protective atmosphere. It'll stay fresh for years in the packet but remove it from its packaging and leave in the air and in two days its green........
Cheers,
Tony
