Feeling a bit downhearted about job-hunting at the moment; recruitment agencies treating me like a calf in a crate doesn't aid progress at all. Both of the jobs I've interviewed for through agencies recently were 'right up my street' but actually of very little interest to me at all. On this note, I'm an English graduate looking at sales/recruitment stuff; can anyone reccomend/know of a good agency?

Secondly, I have a second interview with Softcat tomorrow; IT sales out in Marlow, Bucks. They don't pay as much as some of the city jobs I've looked at would do, but it means I don't have to put up with the tube every day and can easily justify/have space for either a faster or even another car.

I want to make an impression. There are a lot of IT types around here I know; what should I be asking about to show I'm serious? I find there's a line to be drawn between asking generic questions and asking something too 'risque'. How do you ask interesting questions to a company that are very probably absolutely identical to every other IT outlet anywhere ever?

I scrub up pretty damn well and have no problems talking to people, I just want to get myself a plan of attack ready before I walk in. Any advice you could put in my direction would be massively appreciated; good job gets me one step closer to a Porsche...

Hello from a fellow IT sales type in the Thames Valley (although I've not completely converted to the dark side, I'm technical sales/presales )

Best thing you can possibly do is ask questions based on previous experience. Then you'll look like you know what you're talking about. Using the questions you ask to drop hints about your experience will help to strengthen your case.

Ask how they go to market? Make enquires about their channel and how they treat their resellers. Do they sell directly at all? What type of licensing model do they use - modular, flexible, site licenses...

Gosh - lets get a thread going and I'll think some more stuff up...

I have their corporate portfolio, so don't want to tread on the toes of what information is already available to me. But then again, asking *around* what I know could be good. They specialise in licensing so that's probably a good starting point.

They were quite keen on telling us about their 'product champion' bonus system; I'm thinking as licensing is big, I should appear interested. What are the faux pas, horror stories, pitfalls involved here?
